Homebrew [Tutorial] How to Install OoT3DHax

On n3DS 9.0.20E:
I have injected the save0x.bin.eur into OOT through SaveDataFiler.
But starting the game, loading the save and pressing A is resulting into a error message: Please power of the 3DS.

Quick update: I was successful in installing OoT3dhax. The way you have to do it is through an offline installer which some other guy in this thread posted, after that just use a payload that corresponds to your 3DS firmware update and your Homebrew version (mine was 2.1). But the thing is you can't get a payload for that Homebrew version on Smea's website anymore since on his website the payloads you download are 2.5 now, so you have to find an older Themehax installer with the older Homebrew version (which is 2.1).

I've been doing research and it looks like some people can't get 2.5 to be installed on OoT3dhax yet (I'm one of those people), no one really knows why, but it just keeps making the game crash when ever you try to activating the save file (like trying to use the ocarina). Hopefully Smea updates this issue soon.

I've been told by some people on different firmwares and 3DS versions that they could get 2.5 working for them (some of them couldn't even get 2.1 working before :p)
No idea what makes it work or not work for some 3DS versions :/

At this point, I believe the people who claim it "works" just have themehax 2.5. When oot3dhax crashes, it goes back to the home menu where themehax gets triggered immediately.

Nobody on 10.2, where themehax is patched out, has claimed that oot3dhax 2.5 works for them. Meanwhile it's hit-or-miss on lower firmwares. That's just my suspicion.

That was the case for me :p
Only if you had it set up as autoboot, though.

I've had someone clearly specify though that they were starting 2.5 with oot3dhax and it showed the ninjhax 2.5 loading screen correctly and all, so either they were lying, or 2.5 definitely works on /some/ versions.

I think it's just hit or miss in general. I disabled themehax on my 9.0 N3DS and it still runs OoT3Dhax with the 2.5 payload fine as it always has.

Perhaps having themehax installed on your system at any point will lead to some occurrence.

I have two O3DS systems, 9.4 and 9.5. One has themehax installed, the other has never been touched. I'll be doing some tests when I get home from work in several hours.

Having themehax installed or not should not matter because OoT doesn't read theme data from your 3DS.

Thanks :/

Actually you can, you just download an offline OoT3dhax installer and get a payload that corresponds to your firmware update. Unfortunately you can only make OoT3dhax work on HBL 2.1 because for 2.5 it may not work. Who knows though, you may be one of those lucky people and can probably get 2.5 to work :P

Is there a way to install OoTHax without having to use another exploit, and is it possible at all to restore your deleted saved data?

You can use a save dongle (technically not an exploit!), and you can restore your deleted save data with any save manager (or the save dongle itself.)
Powersaves is another exploit in my term, so that explained my ignorant answer above.

If there is no back up (deleted) of the save then no. If there is an already back up, after you get OOThax, you can use save manager to restore. So no need for external hardware.

I think there is a way if you have a Datel Powersaves.

Question: is Datel Powersaves is the same as Save Dongle? I never use PowerSaves before. Last time I mistook and another member corrected me that Powersaves is different than Save Dongle thus can't be used to install OOTHAX onto OOT cartridge.

The save dongle allows you to browse the save data on your cartridge and transfer files to/from it.
(I don't know exactly what is that save dongle though, so I wouldn't be able to point you towards it.)

Meanwhile powersaves has its own format of save files, dumps it to your computer and you can't really browse your cartridge for individual files.
