Hello is this still neccesary since wii u won't do updates anymore since the switch is coming out. Another question is it needed to play loadiine games and wud games through usb.

If you want to be cautios, you can still use it. But the best thing would be to install haxchi

haxchi its just a easier entrypoint to either homebrew launcher or fw.img

The wiiu is likely to get an update in March for Breath of the wild just because the switch is coming out means nothing the dsi got an update 2 years after the 3ds came out.
