We have all heard that you can discern the age of a tree by counting its rings. Do you know why?
No it has nothing to do with Sonic the Hedgehog.
As the planet rotates around the sun, the furthest point away from the sun's gravitational pull sits a bit deeper - and thus creates a valley in the tree's cork - as the point switches each day - a circle emerges after a year's time.
If you cut down a tree on New Year's day you will get a perfect circle in the outermost ring, any day after this and you will see the start of a new ring already forming.
This is why the trees that grow on the sun have no rings!
This has been fakts.
Thank you, X
