Yes, he was.
This is an expression here, mostly used when talking about politicians, is when they are so unpopular, when they are more of a nuisance than they are helpful, their political party will force them to resign.
They didn't get fired, they didn't resign, they "got resigned" (se faire démissionner)
That's what happened here, Justin Trudeau, prime minister of Canada, got resigned.

I bet the people of Canada are relieved and all partying tonight. Hopefully he will never again hold any position where he can affect the lives of others ever again.

I know Trudeau from face, but can someone fill me in on why he resigned exactly?

All I got is this new post, and that seems to paint a rather...peculiar reason.

Donald Trump: *truth socials his spiel of raising tariffs on everyone*
Trudeau: *does...things? *
Chrystia Freeland (deputy prime minister): that's not enough! *resigns*
Trudeau: I don't have enough support! *resigns *gets resigned*

Sure, it was already a minority government, so the government wasn't as stable as it could've been, but it still seems kind of weak.

And for all the joy in this thread...what's going to change, exactly? According to that article, Canada is like the UK in that you vote for a party and said party decides who they want as prime minister.

To quote a certain Pierre Poilievre:

"Every Liberal MP and Leadership contender supported EVERYTHING Trudeau did for 9 years, and now they want to trick voters by swapping in another Liberal face to keep ripping off Canadians for another 4 years, just like Justin,"

Great news. Hopefully his successor will be able to out Canada on the right track again. And let's hope something like this will happen in the UK too.
Yeah...because nothing benefitted the UK like Tory circus of Cameron -> May -> Johnson -> Truss -> Sunak. You really want labour to do the same stuff?

A few example, he doubled Canada's debt all alone (around 700G$ when he first got elected, we are around 1400G$ today), housing problem is largely because of his government (he hasn't done much to slow immigration). Very lately, he voted a law to cut the federal tax on many products, which is only 5% (video games were among those product, so on a 400$ Nintendo Switch, it's be only 20$ less). For a single person, it's not much at all, but for 40 Millions people, it's a lot of income he cut for government.
Covid 19 is also on him. Every single provincial government told him to close the borders, he waited until we already had a lot of cases (I still remember hom saying it wasn't something that bad).
Post automatically merged:

Also, the "new liberal leader" is probably going to be another Kim Campbell. After a desastrous conservative government, in the 90's, Kim Campbell was elected the new conservative leader, just to take all the blames for the previous government. In the following election, she only got two seats (over about 300)

There's been a huge level of propaganda against Trudeau on the right over the years. You see some really classy people with "Fuck Trudeau" stickers on their car every once in a while. I'm definitely one to say "Fuck _____" in person, but I'm not so classless that I'd stick it on my car for all to see.

Basically anyone who was in power during the pandemic is getting blamed for the ensuing rise in inflation, debt, and general unease.

Trudeau is also getting blamed for immigration, which is definitely an issue. From what it seems, they know that there's going to be a HUGE issue with the boomers retiring, and they'll cost the country a boatload of money. Years ago, there were 6 people for every senior on the country to support them. In the near future, it's going to be two for every senior. So they need to get those numbers up FAST.

There really aren't any solutions on the right as much as there are on the left. Pierre is just saying that he'll make the country better without any real details (Sounds familiar.....).

Yeah, the US is running out of Social Security trust in 2035 so it means painful benefit cut to all who receive SS money, also it could be sooner if there is economic issue. That issue is going to raise in 2028 presidential election that Trump isn't going to run because of term limit. If 2035 is on stone, it would be 2032 presidential election.

2035 would be 100th anniversary for US Social Security.

sadly for the US the only way now is to oust trump by force as the GOP only cares about being in power and not doing the right thing
Nah, Canadia bout to become the 51st state, and alot of em are into it. Hold onto your butts, boy!
