Trucha signing is only needed for Wii disks, GC disks need nothing of the sort. Also, even on Wii disks Trucha signing is only needed on disks where things are replaced. Afaik, GC edited disks work straight-away, without any sort of Trucha, so, if you have a drivechip, I think the answer is: Yes, itr will work. Also, Trucha is not needed by Gamecube disks.
