I believe that you can already place GameCube games on a normal sized DVD-R, and have it run on a modified Wii. The signing bug is not required.

Trucha signing is only needed for Wii disks, GC disks need nothing of the sort. Also, even on Wii disks Trucha signing is only needed on disks where things are replaced. Afaik, GC edited disks work straight-away, without any sort of Trucha, so, if you have a drivechip, I think the answer is: Yes, itr will work. You don't need Trucha.

^ What I posted in the other thread incase it gets closed. If you have no drivechip, the answer is: No.
Also, Trucha is not needed by Gamecube disks.

EDIT: This is a cross-post mess. :x I hope mods can merge topics.

Yes.

However, there have been breakthroughs in DVD-R reading for the Wii recently, and one of these may allow it without a chip, but for now all we can do is wait and see. Or try and code one ourselves.
