Hi there!

Hope I'm allowed to post the following issue : I've had an unmodded XBOX (XBOX1) for years but managed to find a second one (XBOX2) as a 'backup'.
Modded both of them (to be able to copy save games inbetween) and did the following :

1. found out the location of the save game (Gears of War 1) on XBOX1 + copied this to my PC (using FTP and only the save file itself [not my profile on the XBOX1]),
2. created a new profile on XBOX2, started Gears of War 1 from the original disc on XBOX2, played a bit and copied this save via FTP to my PC,
3. opened the XBOX2 save, got the Profile ID/Device ID and Console ID (noted them down), opened the XBOX1 save and replaced these 3 entries with the entries from XBOX2,
(step 3 is done with Horizon btw)
4. overwrote the save file on XBOX2 (with FTP) and started the game again and got a message that there was no save file or that it was corrupted.

Also tried with other games (I have mostly Guitar Hero games) and I'm always getting some kind of error that the save isn't found/corrupted/... when I try to ' swap' the save...
Any idea's / pointers are appreciated :-)

I remember there was a easier way to transfer saves if you have the same profile on both Xbox 360's?

Normally not possible, but as far as I remember it's possible to move a profile to USB. Then make a copy on the PC. Then move the profile back to the first console, use the PC to copy back the profile to the USB and move it to the second console.

After this it was possible to transfer most saves just by copying it to USB from the source console and restore it on the target one. Because both have the same profile, there was no problem with save signing.

You can use Horizon on PC and transfer saves to any profile.

But like OP I had trouble with it and just eventually gave up.

Yes, however back then it was more convenient to not need a PC after the initial setup. I had 2 Xbox 360's in different places and sometimes I just wanted to continue a saved game on the other console without too much hassle.

Because of this, I still like the old systems using memory cards more then those with saves in built-in storage. With memory cards it's very easy to continue a game on another console,

@Fien : I don't want to 'devalue' your tip but it's so obvious that I didn't think of it :-) Brilliant and thank you! I'm currently not at home but I will be trying it out tomorrow I hope (or Monday).

But as @Jayinem has stated : it seems that it's not that easy (?) to copy a save " into " a new and different profile? Even using Horizon? I've watch a few tutorials already (there are not that many eg the one made by MrMario2011) and also read up on this in a few articles and threads but people seem to be having success with this while others don't? And as I'm someone who want to understand what's happening, I'm not yet ready to give up :-) Just want to understand how that signing is done as the only variables that are different (as far as I can see) are those 3 ID's : the profile, the console and the device id.
