Hacking Transfering save files between microSDs

my R4i came with a 2GB microSD which served me well for a while... but eventually i decided to upgrade to a 8GB microSD.

I copied everything from my 2GB microSD into my computer, and then copied from my computer into my new 8GB microSD.

The roms all worked fine, but all the saved games showed as corrupted... so i tried copying them back into the 2GB microSD and they were just fine...

Can anyone tell me if the R4i saves are microSD specific? that would be weird but seems to be the case...
Is there any way to make them work? i don't want to wates a 8GB microSD OR the months of saved games i already have

Is the formatfat,fat32) the same for both cards?

Yes, they are both FAT32.

And in case its relevant, the 2GB one i have no idea what brand is, and the 8GB is a SanDisk.

Delete the firmware from the 8gb microSD and copy the firmware from the 2gb microSD onto the 8gb.
See if that helps.
