...And still, you're ending up paying $15 a pop for parts of a game that are all of 2 hours long. You can buy the original Sonic the Hedgehog games with all the levels for like a third of that. It's overpriced and it's still not what Sonic fans were looking for.
You know what... If I invest the 15$ or 60$ for a new-generation game into something I get through virtual console I will nearly always get more playtime of the older games. I don`t see how that is really an argument. Sonic 1, 2 and 3 weren`t particularly big in their time as well and were full retail games. Sonic games are short and were always meant to be played several times. It`s like saying Vanquish is short and if I buy ME2 instead I`ll get 8x the gaming length with the same amount of money
(BTW Vanquish kicks serious ass
)
And I also disagree in relation to the quality of Sonic 4. Even though the physics were a little off they weren`t gamebreaking and as I said before numerous time it was necessary due to the incooperation of the homing-attack. I agree the game should have been 10 bucks but it is a really good game non the less! Also the level-design was really good in regards of speed and plattforming balance.
I`m also kind of tired of people always starting to rant about the other games in the series when a new one gets announced, even though the last few were kind of good.
Here are the last four Sonic-games from the main-series (no sports or other kind of games):
-Sonic Unleashed (amazing presentation and really great music, also brought back the rather oldschoolish-look... great daytime-stages on Wii and PS3360 and disappointing werehog-levels, which still were very enjoyable for kids
)
-Sonic the Hedgehog 4 Episode I (I elaborated on that already, so...)
-Sonic Colours Wii (great game, nuff said...
)
-Sonic Colours DS (not to be mistaken with the Wii-version; essentially Sonic Rush 3 with really good enhancements (wall-jump, Wisps, proper homing-attack,...)
I think I leave it at that... Sonic Cycle
On Topic (and I kinda hate people for driving me off topic
): It looks like something that could work with the concept of Sonic CD. Going through time mid-level and according to the time-frame you`re in the levels and the Sonic-model would change. Like you are running with 2011-Sonic and then you warp 20 years through the past and play as 1991-Sonic seamlessly. Very nostalgic
