Honestly, I don't see the DSi as something much better than the DSL. It may be SLIGHTLY slimmer and have a slightly bigger screen, and a crappy camera, but thats it. That alone, is not worth the upgrade to me.

I agree, im unimpressed with the DSi. Not interested in any of the "features", dont need a camera got a phone for that, and the SD slot meh, got a CycloDS with SD anyway. If you already own a DSL with a flashcart keep your money imo.

I read somewhere... What about Guitar Hero DS, doesn't it use the GBA slot for the Hand Grip/Frets?

The battery life is less, but would you save battery power if you turned off the camera features etc..??

Also they have made the screen bigger by about 17%, but the resolution has kept the same to support the DS Lite... Won't the screen result in being more pixelated?

This re-hash is to combat the stagnant Japanese DS sales. I don't think Europe will get this for a long time, if that..

Unless it upscales like the PSP, but a bit differently - the TV output from the Slim PSP looks, yes, more pixelly than on the actual screen, but not near as much as you'd imagine.

I'm sure they've got it figured =)

Maybe the most intelligent post i have seen in any DSi thread. I agree COMPLETELY. It aint worth it.

I actually sold my phat on Yahoo Auctions Japan when the Lites came out and got a Lite. The DS shortage was still going on and I still took about a 20 dollar hit on the phat, but it seemed like a small price to pay.

I did this again when Apple moved to Intel processors. I sold my iBook on eBay the day of or the day after the announcement. Since I bought the iBook on a student discount I either came out even or lost about $100 (can't quite remember).

There's a brief window of time when you can do this, but the clock started ticking when the DSi was announced.

In anycase, I agree with the above posts. If you have a Lite I don't see the point in rushing to get a DSi - especially (in my own case) I already have a decent iPod and a phone that does all this stuff.

Video from my profile

I really don't understand this video at all. Showing DS games and shots of the DSi, where the only visible difference is the camera. What's special here? Are the games better? Are the graphics more advanced? Do they show what the camera is good for? Do we get to see anything from the web browser?

NO!

I'm still astounded by this move...

And they call this A THIRD PILLAR?
THIRD PILLAR???
What's the definition of a THIRD PILLAR!
"Do you want to have the DS Lite for Christmas?"
"No daddy, I want the DSi because it's a whole different product, can't you see that?"

My DSlite is practically junk nowadays... it's got dirt in every crevice, the stylus falls out ALL THE TIME, it doesn't fully close and the shoulder buttons break constantly. I am just going to keep it until the DSi comes out then buy that... I won't bother trading in my DSlite though, it probably won't make enough to cover the gas of going to the store to sell it (or the postage of selling it online).

DSi looks so incredible, I hope a lot of homebrew devs get it so they can make nice emus and homebrew games using the SD slot and added RAM.

This upgrade was unnecessary. I think it's because the DSLs have been selling so well, Nintendo is trying to jump in on the new hype of peripherals that have multiple features, and bumping the price of the system up a bit as well. No one ever thought "Man, this thing has been out for sooo long. We really need an upgrade." Everyone was content, right? But I guess, was the upgrade from DSPhat to DSL worth it?

I don't see any reason to get excited over this. If you just want to do some gaming, keep your current DS. I bet if they sold the DSL and DSi side by side, people would still get the DSL if they didn't care about the camera or screen that much.

Now, if the DSi came with a GPS system, then I would be all over it. Or a portable oven.

They are selling the DSL and the DSi side by side. DSi is a 'third pillar' and a complement to the DSi. They're still producing firsthand DSLs.

What will happen to all the game that need a GBA slot to work? You know like DS Opera (I guess it's useless cus the DSi has a built in browser) Guitar Hero On tour, Wario Ware touched (this game had the motion sensing this or was it the GBA version only?) and other games like that.

Will those game be able to play. Can DSi games play on the DSl, will Tom ever escape the clutches of Dr. Evil (working on the name) Find out on the next episode "Some random thing I just thought of doing"
(working on the title)

So... Wait. You have a Nintendo handheld and a home console. The GameCube was the console, the GBA the handheld. The GameCube has been replaced by the Wii. The DS was the third pillar. The DS Lite is a smaller version of the third pillar, and the DSi is the third pillar of the smaller version of the third pillar of Nintendo products. Wow, that's an interesting business strategy.

Actually, I believe it goes like this.

Pillar 1: Wii
Pillar 2: DSL
Pillar 3: DSi

At the moment we don't have a third pillar.

That's how it was: GameCube : GBA : DS, but then the Game Boy Line pretty much disappeared after the Wii came out, then it was as Chrono_Tata said:

Wii, DS Lite

Now the third pillar is the DSi. Odd, I know >_>

what will happen to the games that can do GBA - DS Linkage? you could patch a rom...but you won't be able to patch the real game
