Hacking Touchscreen problem on DS lite. Also R and L buttons don't work.

I got a black DS lite from my friend he didn't need it so he gave it to me for free. Everything was working fine for me but the next week the same thing happened to this DS lite the touch screen is off. I could calibrate when I try it says Calibration is complete but it still is off when I go to picto chat or something.

I have about the same problem too. My touchscreen curves at the right because of dirt accidentally pushed into there, calibration won't work but I messed with the calibration (pressing to the left of the right spot to calibrate) to make the dead area smaller. And I could have used the warranty one year ago but the serial number is washed out, I just live with it. I also have other problems with it but at least its still playable.
Your L and R buttons not working, yeah, that must suck.
