Hello Everyone,

Its been quite time i am on this forum but never posted anything here before. So recently i just bought a used Nintendo Switch Neon system in $200 with following things.

  • Nintendo Switch Console (Neon Joycons)
  • Legend of Zelda : BOTW (Digitally Installed)
  • Final Fantasy XV Pocket Edition (Digitally Installed)
  • Skyrim (Physical Cartridge)
  • 128 GB SD Card
  • Original USB Type C Wire
Other things
  • Firmware is 6.0.1
  • Switch Serial is Jail-breakable
  • There was no Box, Straps, Adapter or Dock for the switch.
  • Battery is absolutely fine can play Zelda on the for max 3 n half hours.
  • Condition of the switch is also great.
  • Access to eShop and Online play is possible. (Already playing Paladins and Fortnite)
Now i want to Jailbreak my console to play backups and homebrews therefore need answer or tutorials of the following points.
  1. Can install and use Customer Firmware for Backups and Official Firmware for Online play on my switch.
  2. How i can make a clean backup of my official OFW.
  3. What CFW should i install on my Switch.
  4. Should i update to 6.1 of stay on the existing OFW.
  5. Any possible way to play Videos, Movies on Switch.
  6. How i can install or play backups on my switch
Your step by step help is required in this. Please let me know if i am doing anything wrong as its just a week and i am still trying to learn things for my Switch,

Sorry for the bad English its not my native language.

Thank you.

Please, write in default color.

1. EmuNAND as everyone knows it is not here yet. You can buy SX OS and use their """EmuNAND""" which is very easily detectable (but ninty is not detecting it yet). SO if you want to stay safe and don't get banned (for future online play), do a NAND backup and stay offline. Once you want to play online or stop with CFW, just restore the backup.
2. Hekate.
3. All can do the same, so it does not matter at all. Rajnx, Reinx, Hekate CFWs, Atmosphere (and SX OS, which is paid)
4. 6.1.0 did not break anything, so if you want, you can update.
5. PlayerNX should do the trick.
6. Tinfoil.

If you want, you can try my tutorial (but there are a lot of others great ones as well, SDFiles, ReiNX,...).

One more thing i like to know.

What does fuses mean in Nintendo Switch?
What are burn fuses in switch?

Ok so very simply, the motherboard on the switch has electronic fuses and everytime you upgrade your firmware a certain number of them are burnt. This is done to prevent you from downgrading to a previous firmware version

the switch has fuses that can be burned when you update officially. Each major firmware update burns another fuse and after a fuse is burned the console always checks to see how many fuses are burned during boot if you try to boot lower firmware and to many fuses are burned the console will not boot.

CFW does alloy ways of getting around these obstacles but this is not something you need to worry about with your current firmware

So glad I found this thread as I also bought a unpached Switch today and the amount of informations is pretty much overwhelming!
I'd be happy if somebody could clarify some things for me too... :)

Please, write in default color.

3. All can do the same, so it does not matter at all. Rajnx, Reinx, Hekate CFWs, Atmosphere (and SX OS, which is paid)
4. 6.1.0 did not break anything, so if you want, you can update.
...

3. Do they differ in stability or ease to use? (The easier to use, the better!)
4. I did read that quite a lot, yet I don't rly understand whether the update is recommended before or after hacking the Switch
(I know that the Hack isn't permanent. But will it make any difference if I update it the unconventional way - hence not burning any fuses -> being able to downgrade if needed, or simply connect to the internet and then hit "update"?)

/EDIT: hopefully last question: I've noticed that since the hack isn't permanent, it will have to be done after every reboot (is "Sleep Mode" also considered as reboot?) - this being a time intensive procedure, is there any possibility to not turn the Switch off?

Thank you everybody for your time explaining it over and over to newcomers! I remember me doing that on PS3Hax back in the time :D

Sleep mode is like your phone's screen turning off, it's still on
Okay, so practically I wouldn't need the connection to the PC so often, only if I'm dumb enough to let my Switch run out of battery or "Long Press [Power Button] and [Turn Off]" on purpose if I got that right?

Thanks for your answer btw!

SX OS has a history of screwing up every update they release though they do fix it rather quickly with a patch or even a brand new update. They are all pretty damn similar to be perfectly honest
You can do the update whenever you want as firmware version is irrelevant, they are all compatible with CFW. Of course updating without burning fuses does leave you with the possibility of doing a downgrade in the future in case any better solutions arrive but it's now looking like any will. Still, it's up to you

3. Nope. All of them are easy to use if you know where to look for a guide.
4. Before hacking.
? Sleep mode.

It's not on the motherboard. All fuse located in CPU. I would change the fuse myself if it is located on the mobo.
