I'm trying to change one of my Pro controller's grip colors and they aren't changing after I select the color I want. They remain gray. Firmware's on 4.21 so I wonder if that may be the reason why?

EDIT #1: Well, something weird is going on and I've managed to find a decent enough workaround.

I'm doing a shell swap between my regular and limited edition Zelda Pro controller. On the regular Pro controller, both grips are gray, while the Zelda one's right grip is white. If I set the body color to #323232, the app won't let me change the right grip color. But, if I set the body color to e.g. #323231, the right grip becomes white as it should. Really weird.

EDIT #2: Heh, colors are bit different for the Zelda Pro controller.

#2D2D2D - Body
#E6E6E6 - Buttons
#464646 - L Grip
#FFFFFF - R Grip

And here I thought that the body, buttons and the grips share mostly the same colors. :D

EDIT #3: The regular Pro controller has these values:

#323232 - Body
#FFFFFF - Buttons
#FFFFFF - L Grip
#FFFFFF - R Grip

It seems that if you set the body color to #323232, the rest of the colors can not be changed. Interesting. Per default, they are set to #FFFFFF.

Good to know that you can still update the firmware without custom colors being overwritten or something. Neat. ^^

EDIT #4: These are the values for the Monster Hunter Rise Pro controller:

#2D2D2D - Body
#E7E6E6 - Buttons
#474646 - L Grip
#474646 - R Grip

Last edited by Blythe93,
heyo! so i recently replaced the shell on my right joy-con and when testing the IR camera, i kept getting the error message
"Error: 8IRCFG"
does anyone know what this means?

Actually corrupted my Joycon firmware- admins keep deleting my post for "junk"
IT'S NOT JUNK! IM WARNING YOU THIS IS A VERY RISKY TOOL AND MAY OR MAY NOT BRICK YOUR JOYCONS! IT BRICKED MINE, WHO SAYS IT CAN'T BRICK YOURS?

Only useful if swapping out the shell and you want to take the risk or if you got some fake Joycons online and want to make the colors match the physical appearance.

The tool IS NOT DANGER, the user who is not able to read a very small instruction are the danger, please read the documentation and stop blaming others for your faults.

I'm serious. My joycons stopped working after I wrote the modified firmware that joycon toolkit uses and my joycons stopped connecting to my switch. It's been a month and still no luck.

Hello I'm not sure if this is the right thread but I'm facing some weird issue with a Pro Controller, the rumble is horrible it vibrates very strong all the time, very different from the Joy Con, other Pro Controller and even Dual Sense, I'm not sure this is an original Pro Controller but it seems to be, it wakes up the Switch, it has the message on the PCB (THX2ALLGAMEFANS!) but I'm unable to update its firmware (20.5 + CNX 20.5), I connected on my PC and now I'm trying to dump the SPI but it did not recognize the S/N :

I have tested another Pro Controller from a friend on the Switch and the behavior is very different from this one I'm currently using, any thoughts on what it can be ? Also, is there a way to update the controller on the PC ?

+1 here :D

I believe we all would love a version of this app that would work with Switch 2 Joycons (and on Windows 11)
:D
I hacked together a python GUI for experimenting with switch 2 controllers. It's a little rough around the edges, and not intended to be equivalent to JC Toolkit, but there is probably a bit of overlap in features.

Note that the onboard memory of the new controllers is mostly read-only now, so we can't edit factory data such as controller colours or calibration data anymore.
