They aren't anywhere near as accurate as a D-Pad and buttons. Mapping slashes to swipes and the like is terribly inaccurate, and most of the time you're just stuck spamming jump strike like a moron. The DS Zeldas were by far the weakest Zelda games, outside of probably Zelda II (and we don't talk about the CDi games).
But I agree with Rayder, I hate forced control schemes, particularly this gen with stupid motion and touch controls shoved down your throat purely for novelty. Just because a console has a touchscreen or motion controls doesn't mean you have to use it constantly, unless it's nothing but a touchscreen or a big waggle machine.
