Gaming Today in class we did cables...

We got some practice making straight-through and crossover cables in class today.

My first one worked fine except the sleeve was outside of the head, I left too much of the wires exposed.

I'm not so sure I did the second one right, something seems off about it.

Ah. We did this last year in Sophomore year. I'm a junior now, haha. We do Cisco Networking (CCENT) and A+ (which I'm going to be verified for hopefully by next month.)

CAT5 cables and cross-over cables, just remember the colors and the orders of them. If you aren't sure if the cable is going to work, simply put up a multimeter. If it reads "Pass" the cable is good and you have successfully configured it. If it reads "Open" one of the cables aren't configured properly, and you need to do it again. It's simply a learning process. RJ-45's are easy to make once you do it enough.

They can seem difficult at first, but after you get the hand at it, they're ridiculously easy

Especially if you've got a good crimping tool!
