Make sure you have the right firmware installed; English for the English cards, and Chinese for the Chinese cards.

The R4 is not SDHC compatible.

Do NOT use non-SDHC MicroSDs that are larger than 2GB.
They exceed the normal limit, and although rarely do work on the R4, they are extremely unstable, and may have compatibility problems.

Hey Peeps i made two batch programs for Backing up saves and your hole SD card.
give them a try they are installers so if you dont like them uninstall them

the saves batch compress the saves also make backups of rar files before proceeding just a tip when you create your first backup leave it in the main directory as when you back them up it creates a backup of that file then updates the one in the main directory.

these ones are different as you setup config files before you start (only once) then sit and wait easy you can choose to backup your .nds files or not as i dont need to as i have the saves else where and no nds files shaves loads off the time

- If you don't want to click 'eject' or 'safely remove' every time you finish copying data onto the microSD card (although it's still safest to do that), and you just want to plug out the reader, do the following:

1. Plug in your reader with the card inside, wait for it to mount.
2. Right click on the microSD drive that shows up in My Computer and choose properties.
3. Go to the 'Hardware' tab (I'm using a Polish version of Windows so it might be something other than 'Hardware', I don't know)
4. Select your USB device from the list and click the Properties button.
5. Go to the second tab in the new window. Select the first checkbox (the one that says it doesn't buffer your written data), click OK. Click OK again.

This works at least for Windows XP Home, which I have at home

Be gentle with the MicroSD cards - they're pretty fragile. I know of somepeople who have broken their cards..

Lol...seems like if you look at the R4 wrong it'll break.

Is it that bad...and whats with the "spring" version? I just got mine and theres no spring in it.

R4's are pretty durable in my opinion, it's the micro SDs that are fragile...

The "spring" R4s you asked about were the older batches of R4s. They had a spring for removing and inserting the micro sd card. These spring were prone to breakage after some time, so the R4 team made all new R4s without springs; you just push in the sd card and pull it out.

I got my 2gb Kingston(Japan) MicroSD today. I loaded up all my stuff onto the new SD. I'm going to try and not pop the card out unnecessarily.

umm, dont throw it on the ground with all your might.
People it's not hard to not break your flashcart. Just don't abuse it too much. And when I mean abuse, like literally throwing it.
