Tips for you

Some tips here to help you out. Feel free to discuss and share information others might not be aware of..

Power Off/Hard Reset/Completely Turning off Your PS Vita:
To completely shut down your Vita, hold the POWER button down for a couple seconds. This is just in case, your Vita freezes on you.

Take a Screenshot:
Press the PS Button and Start Button at the same time, until you hear a click/snap sound.

Accessing the "Recovery Menu/Mode" on PS Vita:
Completely SHUTDOWN your system by press the POWER button down for at least 10 secs or more til' it goes black. Then press and hold the POWER button while turning it on. Wait a bit and it should load into the Recovery Menu/Mode.

What's are these options for, in the RECOVERY MENU/MODE?

1. Restart System
Boots your system as normal without changing any settings or files.

2.Rebuild Database
Rewrite corrupted files within the database, potentially eliminating future issues. This feature should not erase any of your saved data or settings.

3. Format the memory card
Format or erase data in the memory card.

4. Restore PS Vita System
Restore the system to factory settings, data, firmware and internal flash.

5. System Update
Allow the user to update the latest firmware from Sony.

Bluetooth Settings:
Go into SETTINGS, then into "Network," and into "Bluetooth Settings." Make sure [Bluetooth Feature] box is checked. It will automatically search for a bluetooth device that is ready to connect. Once it's found, sync the two together and presto! (I've only tried BT headsets...)

Edit Mode:
Touch and hold the screen down until you access EDIT mode. This allows you to organize the bubbles on screen to ADD/DELETE columns or move the bubble icons around.

Message Prompt (One of Many):
You cannot earn trophies in this application. Do you still want to start this application?
Only the first player to use an application can earn trophies. To earn trophies, you must delete all data related to this application and then start the application.

Help Tip = Bubbles:
What you wanna do is delete the INSTALL GAMEDATA BUBBLE. Go back to the bubble icon menu. Touch and hold the screen until you are in EDIT mode. In EDIT mode, you are allowed to delete the selected INSTALL GAMEDATA BUBBLES. Tap the selected gamedata bubble you wanna remove and go ahead to DELETE it. Now eject and insert your game cart again and INSTALL it. That message you had before, will no longer be there.

Help Tip = Common Sense ONLINE:
You might want to avoid using profanity or making threats to other players online. The other person/user may report you to Sony, and get you banned from either your account or handheld. Be aware players.
Yeah, I know. There are users out there who are lil' MOFOs who like to shut their system down after a losing match. We know the term as "Rage Quitting." They can't take the loss and like to fake a high winning score on game scoreboards. You KNOW who you are! Now, If you do run into that scenario, be wise about it and just leave em a douche message/remark ;) Remember, avoid using profanity or making threats.

Colour Scheme:
Hold the touch screen down til' you access EDIT theme mode. On the bottom right of each column, tap that small BOX icon that's near the + button. Select the color by CHECKING it and change the background color of your choice, then tap X on the top left corner. (Each column will change different colors, if you set them all differently.) After you are done editing, just hit the BACK arrow on the bottom left.

Changing Background Themes for each columns:
Hold the touch screen down til' you access EDIT theme mode. On the bottom right of each column, tap that small BOX icon that's near the + button. Tap the very first BOX with the Camera Folder Icon and select any photo/picture you have stored and set it as your theme wallpaper. (Each column will change to a different wallpaper, if you set them all differently.) After you are done editing, just hit the BACK arrow on the bottom left.

Listen to your MUSIC:
Did you know you can listen to you own tracks on almost anything on the PS Vita? It could be during GAMEPLAY, the MENUs, PSN Store, etc...

Converting HD Quality Videos:
You can use PSPVC (LINK), to convert movie files into MP4. Now if you want that HD kick, before converting, in VIDEO OPTIONS: go into settings and set the RESOLUTION to 960 x 544. And for almost HIGH volume depending on the video you own, set the volume to AUTO or 1001 (doesn't matter which)

Creating VIDEO PS Vita Correct Thumbnail Size
Create a NEW window page in this size, 213px(W) x 120px(H). (px = pixels)
For example:
350kthv.jpg

Lock your PS Vita from other users but yourself:
Go into SETTINGS, then into "Security," and into "Screenlock." Then enter down a 4 DIGIT passcode twice and now nobody but you has access to your PS Vita. (WARNING: Do NOT forget your passcode, you only get 4 attempts. After that you're on your own... From what I hear, you get locked out from your Vita for acouple hours or days, maybe months...)

Another one is you can press the PS button and the Start button at the same time to take a "screen capture" photo and send it to friends over the message system

Found some more on the internet:
  • To quickly mute your PS Vita, press the Volume Up and Volume Down buttons at the same time for a second.
  • To change your PSN panel, navigate to Settings, PSN, Account Information, and Panel to choose from a wide assortment of artwork from first and third-party games.
  • PS Vita currently supports more than 275 legacy digital PSP games and more are on the way. You can also improve the way those lower-resolution PSP games look on the PS Vita's screen by pressing and holding the front touchscreen to bring up a Settings menu where you can activate several options.

Checking "bilinear filtering" and "color space" seems to yield consistently smoother results, but experiment with your PSP games to find your favorite combination.
  • Hold the PS button to bring up a quick-access menu that enables you to adjust brightness and your custom music options.
  • If you want to turn off PS Vita's menu music, you'll find the option in Settings > Sound & Display > System Music.

In the OP, I think the term Hard Reset should be changed for perhaps Power Off. Hard reset to me (and perhaps other technically-minded people) actually refers to a total system reset and often a wipe. Power Off causes less confusion.

not so fun fact for the list
standby mode disables active wifi connections (downloads get paused and will resume again when the system is in use). This can be bypasses by plugging in the charger and loading a video on continuous play.
