Hello, as the title says, i've had this issue with tinfoil since early january. i had to delete the app, however, the folder with the contents inside had gotten corrupted, and every time i try to delete it, nothing happens. it takes up almost 30 gigs on my sd card, and while i can rename the folder (so i can move over an uncorrupted tinfoil,) it doesn't work. trying to install the nsp on goldleaf gives a 2002-4058 error...

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

You have corruption (probably writing to disk when system was shut down in the middle) so it’s actually advisable to backup what you want to keep and reformat the dive.

If you’d rather soldier on…

Try this:

https://www.partitionwizard.com/free-partition-manager.html

Step 1. Launch the MiniTool software to get its main interface and click on the Space Analyzer from the top toolbar.

Step 2. In the new window, select the drive that contains the corrupted files from the drop-down menu and click on Scan.

Step 3. Wait for the scan to complete, and then right-click the corrupted file from the list of files/folders and select Delete (Permanently). Also, you can go to the File View tab, and then type the name of the corrupted file in the search box and click on Apply, then delete it.

MinitoolPW failed to install? I’m assuming you have Admin privs and can install software on your own machine, correct?

I guess your other option is to backup everything (including your emunand) and then format you sd card with Hekate and then see If you can recover your data back to the SDCard.

oh crap, i meant delete lol. but yeah i'm probably gonna do the whole backup shtick again, did it a while back too. my hdd likely couldn't hold it all, so iirc it's fine to delete games before backing up, right?

It will certainly make the backup smaller. you will still need 30G to backup the emunand (that’s where your game saves are).

alternately you could extract your game saves, take note of your homebrew (nro files) and /config and then just “rehack“ your switch from scratch, taking a fresh snapshot of your Sysnand, install Hekate/Atmosphere, unzip Sigpatches, reinstall games and then restore game saves. Will probably take about the same amount of time, but you’ll be doing stuff rather than waiting on a (dubious) backup to finish.

This may seem obvious...
But assuming you're on windows, have you tried opening an elevated command prompt (run cmd as admin) and running this?

chkdsk ?:\ /f

Replace "?" with the drive letter Windows mounts your SD card as, for example E or G.
Post automatically merged:

Also! After you re-format your SD card (if chkdsk doesn't fix what's going on) make sure to check the card with H2TestW before you use the card again. It'll take longer to check the bigger the card is, but it's worth it to make sure it's not broken.

no problem!!

if you need any more help, feel free to make a thread any time or reply to this one (if you're still having SD issues)

ALSO!! I HIGHLY recommend that you step away from tinfoil, and instead use DBI.
Why? Well, with DBI you can just hit X, connect your switch to your PC, and bam. Full access to your saves, album, and more, with the added nice bonus of easy Drag'n'Drop Installing*!
You can get DBI here. Supports all major game formats thus far, so it should work. I've had way more luck with it myself than with Awoo or Tinfoil.
https://github.com/rashevskyv/dbi/releases

*If your game is in an archive file (e.g. .zip, .RAR, .7z) you need to extract that archive first. Trying to copy the game's install file (nsp, xci, etc) to DBI's "SD card install" drive won't work.

definitely need some help now, if that's ok. i've been trying to backup the emunand so i can format my sd card and all, but hekate said it couldn't find the partition, and NxNandManager was little help either. My SD card shows up as 2 drives on my laptop (one with the main storage, the 2nd with the emunand) and it doesnt seem to cooperate. i'm not swapping to a different card (yet), so i'm a little miffed atm lol.

I also will try out DBI, sounds way easier than TinFoil.

Point Emutool as your SDCard and see what it finds.

  • EMUTool — Move Copy Backup and Restore your emunand
