Hardware Thumbstick/Joystick not working properly on 2DS

Hey there,
so I bought a 2DS for 30 Euros, since I thought that´s a great deal. The seller said everything works fine. Sadly that´s not the case and there is a problem with the Thumbstick/Joystick.
Moving it up and down works fine, but moving it to the left or to the right isn´t working properly. When I put a bit of pressure on the Thumbstick the problem isn´t as severe but it still persists. Even though I have no idea about this stuff I think there is a lot of dust underneath the Thumbstick and removing it would maybe solve this issue, since when applying pressure the dust doesn´t "affect" the thumbstick as heavily ( Probably false, but that would be my guess ). But I am afraid of damaging the console even further, since I never opened up a device. I probably also don´t have the right tools.

Would be really thankful if someone could help me, since I wanted to homebrew my 2DS, but in this state the 2DS is not really usable.

What the…? Never seen something like this. The circle pad goes physically back to center position immediately, but this isn't acknowledged electronically without a big delay?!

Well, that is a problem. How should this be repaired without opening? My guess is that the inner part, the actual circle pad went bad. It is neither an expensive part, nor a particularly hard repair. Even if it is just dust/dirt underneath, you will have to open it anyway. Ifixit.com guides are always a good starting point. Three times be careful:

1. Depending on how tight the screws are, the hardest part may be unscrewing them without stripping. Use a fitting screwdriver and give it a light tap to make the tip of the screwdriver go into the screw all the way. A too big or too small screwdriver will destroy the screws easily. The metal is bad quality.
2. When lifting the back cover the cameras are still connected. Do not simply try to remove the cover after unscrewing. It will rip the cable (ifixit guide also mentions this).
3. The ZIF-connector holding the circle pad ribbon cable is flimsy. Do not use much force when opening and closing the flap.

Depending on the situation you might be able to return the device since it wasn't as described. Maybe hard to do this if it was a private seller: "As seen, without warranty and no return, blablabla." Not impossible if there is proof (screenshots of an online offer saying "fully working"), but hardly worth the effort for €30.

Well if its an rather easy repair, I am more than willing to open up the 2DS. At the end it was only €30, so lets just say it´s a great opportunity to learn how to repair electronic devices

Where can I buy a new circle pad? I looked on aliexpress but I only found circle pads for the 3DS/3DS XL and New 3DS/New 3DS XL. Does that matter or do these fit on my 2DS? And which parts would i need.

Yes, I am trying my luck, doing a damage report at the shipping station. If that doesn´t work, that´s fine. I am not interested in initiating legal action against the seller because, as you already said, for €30 it´s just not worth it and I feel like it would just be a waste of time, even if I would get my money back.

If there is anything I suspect to be defective it is the analogue stick part. The cap and the washer ring shouldn't cause that. There is nothing physically sticking; in your video it goes back to center position as normal when releasing.

As far as I know there are exactly two different joystick parts. One for the old series and one for the new series. The one from the new series will not fit. Sadly I've no lose parts available at the moment to compare them right now.

Do you mean with new series the New 2DS XL or just a newer version of the 2DS?
