Thoughts on valve's new hardware line-up?

Been out on the internet for a couple of days and on gbatemp front page slightly less: https://gbatemp.net/threads/valve-u...troller-steam-frame-and-steam-machine.677090/

A new VR device, new controller and a console that doubles as an oldfashioned standalone PC.

Given the name of this group, I think it's safe to say everyone is at least interested. But should this group expand to those other devices as well, or retain it as "just" steam deck?

God, has it really already been over a month? I'm still just as excited as the week they announced.

If everything actually really works well enough together it might be worth coining a Valve Group for the ecosystem trio of Steam Machine, Deck, and Frame. As soon as those devices launch I really would like to pre-order all three but I suspect scalpers will always beat me to the punch.

So much excites me about the upcoming hardware but FEX-Emu in the Frame is most intriguing, if FEX pans out the way that Proton has, it would enable some serious capability from ordinarily meager handhelds from the likes of Ambernic / Miyoo / Aya Neo and all those silly named portable devices "brands".

But yep, definitely interested here.

What a difference a couple months make... Ram prices are still sky high, too the point where I've seen honest speculations on just below 1000 buck prices.

Furthermore, valve is a us based company, and with current frictions export tariffs to the eu aren't unlikely. Besides: it's not that hard to build a steam machine yourself nowadays (I've just built myself a second bazzite rig from a non win 11 compliant machine)
