Well, I was thinking of getting rid of some games at gamestop to get money. Then head over to Play N Trade to buy a Sega Genesis. What games should I buy for it?
I think I will be happy with a Sega Genesis

May I suggest Super Nintendo instead? Not trolling, really, I just think SNES has a lot more great games.

I already know people are gonna be all "SONIC THIS ETC" so to give you some games you wouldn't hear about right away:

*Contra Hard Corp (one of my favorite Contra games)
*Comix Zome (BEST game on Genesis)
*Vectorman (there is a sequel too)
*Earthworm Jim (Save Princess What's Her Name!)
*Road Rash 3

Some extra games worth buying:
-Soleil
-Flashback

Also the genesis is good for fighting games, the ports of street fighters and mortal kombat are better IMO than on Snes.

True. the 6 button GEN controller is much more fun to use than the SNES controller in Ultimate Mortal Kombat 3 (my favorite game in the series

).

NOTE: MAKE SURE TO GET A 6 BUTTON CONTROLLER! lol.

Shadowrun. Seriously, don't go home without it.

the Shining Force games SHOULD be obvious.

Oh, and if you're going for fighters, I'd recommend giving "Eternal Champions" a shot.

I would just get an nds, it has a very high quality genesis emulator and it's portable.

honestly a genesis isn't all its cracked up to be. i got one and a segacd, never touch it. i mainly play the games on ps3 or wii. it takes up a lot of space and the games aren't that good, they are good fun especially living out games i played years ago, but digital storage of roms and emulators are the best way to go.

maybe convert a genesis controller to usb? i might need to look into this myself...

Too bad that there's not a Sega CD emu for it though.... I think I played my SCD at least as much as my GEN...

There's nothing better than playing the games on the console they were designed for. Much better feeling than emulation, trust me.

The Genesis is a great console, that has a lot of good games. If you haven't seen it already, we have a Genesis essentials thread (managed by me), where you could get some inspirations (and don't forget to vote after you bought some games).

Some of my personal favorites include:
- Beyond Oasis/Story of Thor: a really good action-adventure
- Castle of Illusion Starring Mickey Mouse: a really good Jump 'n Run, the sequel World of Illusion is also great
- Disney's Aladdin: another superb platformer and the best movie-game I played
- Landstalker: an isometric Action-Adventure with some light RPG elements
- Mortal Kombat: do I really have to say more than ACABABB?
- ToeJam & Earl: you best look at the video to get an idea of the game. The first one is better but the sequel, Panic on Funkotron, while being very different, is also a good game.

Well I do agree its best played on the system itself but you'll most likly get bored of it after awhile and basically felt like you wasted money, but here are some games that you might like anyway just incase you decide to buy them instead of emulating it...

Cyborg Justice(robots!)
Jerry Glanville's PigSkin Footbrawl(football where killing your opp. is not frowned upon)
M.U.S.H.A (awesome shooter)
Mutant League Football(fun to kill the ref and only get a 5 yard penalty)
Mutant League Hockey(fun to hack the other team to death)
Rock n' Roll Racing(good racer)
Streets of Rage 3 (good fighter)
Zombies Ate My Neighbors (kill the ZOMBIES!)
Earthworm Jim 1 and 2(classic worm goodness)
Gunstar Heroes(awesome game)
