Well, my birthday is coming up soon, so im thinking of building of a PC.
So far, i was thinking of using an AMD FX 8150, i know the reviews arent brilliant, but ive found a cheap air cooler that should it allow it to be overclocked a lot! My budget should be around £500, but i need some recommendations on GPU's and any other parts, thinking of a 500GB hard drive and around 8 GB RAM.

Well, any suggestions are greatly appreciated!

Honestly, if I was you, I'd make a build around a 3570k with a Gigabyte D3H board and 8gb of samsung green ram, I doubt you could go wrong with that, GPU wise though with a £500 budget including other components including PSU and case I'd set aside about £130 for maybe a ATI 6870 or £170 for a Nvidia 560Ti, Samsung 1TB F3 drives have started to drop again and are better value than a 500GB so I'd look at that aswell.

ahhhh thanks! ill have a look around, i do want it mainly for gaming but those specs seem like they'd be fine so thanks!

Why Samsung Green RAM, go for corsair or g-skill. You can get 8GB for under £40 pounds. Im guessing you would have dual channel so in (2x4GB). Like Random Oddness said a Gigabyte D3H motherboard. They are great (I have one). 1TB hard drives can be found for around £60. My recent Samsung 1TB hard drive I got for £50. You are looking at a 650W PSU. Go for Intel i5 2500K (Sandybridge).

I say samsung green ram with a 3570k because of it's memory controller and insane room for overclocking, samsung green ram goes for what? £50 and it can clock well with tight timings with very low voltage. Though don't get me wrong, 2500k is great and corsair or g-skill ram are also great quality, with a D3h, 3570k and samsung green ram you can easily clock at 4.2-4.6GHz on an Evo with ram running around 2133Mhz 10-10-10-28 1N with low voltage and safe temps,

I understand where you coming from and didn't really know much about samsung green ram. With overclock you can definately get more value for money.

I have 2 sets of advice, feel free to listen to one or neither.
1: Falcon Guide
2: Plan out what you want in the computer, but don't buy the GPU right away. If you get the Intel 3570K with the Intel HD 4000 graphics, you could easily get by for a while, even gaming, until you have the money for a discrete GPU. This allows you to get better parts in the short term.
