1. does it have wii connectivity
2. is the wood firmware easy to install?
3. what are the chances of this one just stuffing up ( my cousins does this all the time it just wont start it is a clone though)
4. i will be ordering from shoptemp are they clones or originals?
5. am i better off buying her an sd card from shoptemp or buy it from target or somewhere like that (only need like 1 or 2g)

R4s are awesome if you have wood R4.

I myself use Wood R4 v1.06 in my opinion one of the best firmwares out there.

You may be right. Although, i got my R4 incredibly cheap and it was at a time when there weren't many flashcarts out there.
Although with Wood R4, R4 can compete with the other flashcarts once again.

1. Yes
2. Yes
3. Original R4 = very good build quality
4. They seem to be originals
5. Doesn't really matter

the r4 is not outdated, its 1.18 firmware was. as far as 1st gen slot-1 flash linkers go (and 2nd gen really is stuff like the iplayer and scds2) the r4 has great technology. it does stuff at the hardware level that acekard has to do at the software level. this makes the r4 much faster and capable of greater things. its too bad the team never got a chance to push the technology.

OP said that his gf has a Lite, so DSi support obviously isn't needed. And he said that only 1GB or 2GB card is needed so SDHC isn't needed either. An R4 is about half the price of AK2i. And don't forget that right now the latest Wood R4 has better compatibility than the latest AKAIO.

Edit: The price is actually closer to 1/3rd of the price of AK2i.

And if YWG decides to leave supporting it WHAT?

And since Wood R4 is open-source anyone can pick up the development if YWG decides to drop it.
Your points are retarded and it's obvious that you're just a hater.

Im not a hater because I have it and works
Im only saying that is better for him/her to buy a officialy supported flashcart

AK2i is not an officially supported flashcart. It took them 4 months (or more?) to fix the screwup with 2.1 cards. The last official firmware update for it was in mid-December.
People buy Acekard because of AKAIO. Just like people buy R4s for Wood R4 now.
OP doesn't need SDHC or DSi support so R4 is clearly a good choice for him.

I agree with the past few posts. The AK cards are overstated and overhyped. R4s work fine.

AKAIO updates are just as likely to cease as R4 Wood. So all you AK lovers, stop hating.

YEP, R4's do what they're supposed to, providing you have the proper firmware. I'v been using it for a long time and so far, AP's have solutions always
