Suntory Toki Whisky (86 proof) my first japanese whisky, the hibiki is way too over priced here at $150, so went with toki at $35

Suntory Toki is a quality but not distinctive blended (Scotch) whisky. It will give you a hint at what the HIbiki is like, but the Yamazaki and the Hakushu (single malts) actually have some individual character.

As for Nikka, the other major Japanese distiller you're likely to see besides Suntory, I have never been too impressed. Except for one: the Coffey Grain whisky. If you see Nikka Coffey Grain, or Nikka Coffey Malt, grab it.

I ended up ordering Anbernic’s latest thing just before Christmas.

Always eager for a better way to play GBA, and between the screen being able to run at 120hz and the colour being a close match to my Analogue Pocket, it just seemed a really fun system.

Got some stuff since my last post.
The start make two small lamps, one for home / balcony use that's retro styled and can either sit on a table or hang. The nicest part about this one is that it has great coverage all around and below it, so whether it's on a table or hanging it gives great illumination. Also has warm white and mixed cold/warm light modes. Mildly weatherproof, charges via USB-C, ~100-500lm, 12h-4h run time, infinite brightness adjustment via knob on top. First half of the range is 0-100% warm white, second half is 0-100% mixed white.

The other is a much smaller lamp for my bag, so I can see shit in the dark with decent 360° coverage, too. Can even clip to the strap adjustment thing clasp whatever it's called so it's hands free.

The lowest 5lm mode is bright enough to easily find your way in perfect darkness and lasts about 40 hours, the brightest at 150lm for 2h and makes enough light to make an entire room nice and bright. Also red mode for some reason, blinking to help with being seen (fog, for example), and a glow in the dark ring at the bottom ensures it's easy to find the thing at night again after it was turned off. Takes either a regular AA or Li-Ion batteries, and the one it ships with can be charged via proprietary magnetic cable, or taken out and charged elsewhere. All in all decent bit of emergency kit.

After that new plush get. This one owns the same jacket I do.

Another piece of safety kit, two reflective clip on bits because I enjoy not getting hit by cars in the dark. And since I mostly wear all black that stuff is just useful to have. They're held together with magnets that are pretty damn strong, otherwise not much to say beyond that they appear to work and hopefully won't fall apart too soon.

Then got Remute's newest album Digital Bubblebath on the DS. It's a regular DS flashcart though I'm not sure what exact type.

Also got the Retrofighters BattlerGC Pro. Seems like a pretty decent upgrade over the original one though I haven't been able to fully put this one through its paces yet.

And finally last a Litwick.

It do be glowing. Now I just need the middle evolution and then I have the entire family.

I feel like we're all a bit Anbernic'd out, so I will ask here, and listen to whatever the consensus is.

Do we want a review? Bought it myself so really don't care either way, it's just like... GBA. GBAtemp.

I would like a comparison to the RG35XX SP, a "battle of the GBAs" thing. But that's about it, everything that can be said about this chipset has already been said, I doubt this one brings anything new to the table. The screen maybe?

Yeah it's really a review to show off the 3:2 screen and compare controls/size to a real GBA. I think that can be interesting in itself, but I agree the performance isn't anything noteworthy. I bought it to be a GBA and a GBA it will be lol

Not really, the H700 chip has been done to death.

The only interesting thing about this is its moderately high resolution and how good that screen is for retro games in terms of integer scaling.

990 pro 2tb.

Was thinking of getting a another drive for more storage and Samsung UK had a cashback promotion, £50 cashback making the drive only £80, can't really say no at that price.

Will check firmware when I get around to installing it, should be on the latest as the production date (I think it's the production date) is november this year, but I'll still make sure.

So I might not be reviewing the Anbernic but I'm definitely writing something up for this...

Funky getting used to MacOS having never really used it properly. Swapped the keycaps on my Keychron K2 HE to the Mac ones to help a touch. Really liking it so far though, having access to phone apps makes things like Audible a lot nicer.

Ditch the audible app and use this https://github.com/rmcrackan/Libation
basically stripping the drm
Appreciate the heads up on that, will certainly hold onto it. I do like the Audible app for now since it lets me just pick up my progress across multiple systems (phone, iPad Mini, browser, and now Mac Mini), but always good to have a DRM killer in the back pocket!
