Yes it's me. I was a cold day then. Tapo C111. I had a WYZE one, but it broke [i broke it actually] during set-up.
And i thought that i was the only ancient one here  .

Nice ride btw :)

Those Tp-link cameras are nice. I use a couple of C210 myself to keep an eye on my backyard entrances.

Fixed my Keyboard.

The entire bottom row, above spacebar wasn't working.
Took apart, drenched faulty keys in IPA, mow they working again.
Me thinking copper sulfate, don't know.

I've been using this Notebook for everything since 2016, so it's expected to start failing up until now. Luckily enough, battery isn't swollen, although it used to retain charge for up to 4 hours, now retains charge for 1:30 hours.

I LOOOOOVE this keyboard, is so silent, and was looking for "Chiclet USB Keyboards" that seems to be non existent in my area, and found Bluetooth ones but they hella expensive for what they are. Glad I just saved me $1k MXN for a silent keyboard.

Slightly off topic. I'm currently in the middle of fixing my VOIP ATA PSU (causing noise on the phone line) and an OG Xbox with bulging caps on the PSU.

I don't have the specific values to hand though and I'm skint so it has to be as cheap as possible.

Besides Aliexpress, is there anywhere which delivers small quantities of caps to/in the UK without costing an ass ton on postage? Looking at RS components, they want £7 in postage unless I buy £50+ of stuff.

Sometimes you can find components on eBay

This week:

1. Modded a V2 Switch
2. Modded an OLED switch but failed a bit (need to replace 1 resistor due to burning out while soldering 1 signal point multiple times) - can't load into Horizon until I fix the resistor

Valve's Steam Machine being delayed and pricing likely being more than I liked to pay, decided to make my own with the Asrock BC250. Basically a stripped down PS5 APU that was repurposed for mining, but someone got a custom BIOS for it to push higher clock speeds for the GPU and after installing Bazzite and setting up a custom GPU governor it's basically an RX6600 with a 6 core Zen 2 CPU.

3d printed a case, slapped it all together, and $250 for card, PSU, fans, and filament and I've got a Steam Machine of my own.

Haven't done a whole lot of testing on it yet, but I managed to get Black Myth Wukong running at 45-60fps at high settings at 1080p with no problem so should be all around a good 1080p machine.

Last project I did was refurbishing a black 360 controller. Took it apart, cleaned the plastic parts with a Dawn soap bath then scrubbing with a toothbrush and sponge, put in new membranes, cleaned the board with IPA, replaced the rumble motors with new ones. Still have an issue with pressing down on the d-pad but the carbon looked okay. But it works fine for the most part as I only notice the d-pad issue when using menus that sometimes I have to press twice for it to register. Plus I have my Hunter pad.

uhhhh no

Tried in earnest yesterday. Still having trouble taking the glass part off. 😦

i didnt want to sound mean. but replacing screens on iPads and phones isnt for the feint of heart. if you damage the screen, then you need to place that too. it can become messy.

You get conductive paint, you can just paint that on the dpad and it will start working. To test that's the fault just get a pencil and draw over it a few times, the graphite in the lead is conductive.

That's the same for opening iPads and iPhones in general. The components are tiny, and the screws are easy to lose.

Bought a ps4 that was constantly bootlooping into safe mode even when installing the recovery firmware. I just tore a little the power button from the inside and voila: I have a 9.00 ps4 in 2026 :).
Still, I have to clean it from inside and replace the power button but it works well as is now
