Here's a slightly off topic question... Under copyright law in my country, i am legally allowed to backup my games for personal use. Would Nintendo be breaking any laws if I got banned for using a backup of a game I legally own?

When it comes to legalese, the devil lies in the detail. Here's the issue (IMO) with it.

While it may be legal for you to have a backup of games that you bought, the law is silent on the way you can play said backup. It does not explicitly say that you can play the backup on a mig. As such, ninty could still argue on the grounds that the mig circumvents their protection and as such, is not a legal device for playing backups and ban a person for the use of the MIG.

Same goes for emulators. While the technical process of emulation is legal, other things that are needed to make said emulation possible may not be legal. Switch emulators require prod and title keys to function but they cannot be legally obtained without owning a switch and the game respectively. Unfortunately, too many people conflate the two and think that emulation being legal means piracy in itself is legal as well.

wtf why do I randomly stop getting these alerts.

Also who went ahead and just changed my thread title without asking, we are gonna fight! (not really but letting me know and giving me a heads up would have been nice..)

Anybody see any V2 impressions yet? Mines shipped from AliExpress but it probably won’t be here for another week.

Yes and the worst is: even if you connected the MIG device with a invalid certificate while the console is offline, you will be banned when that console will back online
how do you know if banned? i played bdsp with a cert from a labo game and eshop still works on my system

also ill try the button thing if someone gives instructions

Normally the bans are not immediately, sometimes are on waves, people are reported even been banned some months after. So until you get error accesing online services you can't be sure you aren't banned. Sorry.

ive had the mig for months, im wondering if the ban isn't for going online with a wrong cert but using the same cert to go online in multiple games, i got a bunch of labo carts and dumped the certs ive been using 1 per game i want

i just did a wonder trade on bdsp for good measure, im running ams with custom home menu themes also lol

You can get game banned if you cheat or exploit in games just so you know
You can’t cheat or exploit with the mig tho?

Maybe it’s user error but none of the current tools that can extract and rebuild XCIs even work anymore when you go to build the XCI again. I’ve only tried the Pokémon games and binding of Isaac tho

But from my understanding that will break the signature and invalidate the initial data file anyway so it still won’t even work on the MIG

Also can you edit my title again, but swap the words flashcart and switch? It’s killing me lmao

Your situation is different.

Given that yours is a modified switch, you would inherently have things like emunand, DNS MITM/90DNS, etc. If those things "protect" you while you are using the switch, then it also stands to reason that it would also "protect" you while using the MIG.

Try doing what was mentioned on a non-modified (IE no CFW, no "protection") switch and the results could be different. Many who get the MIG do so because they can't mod their switch or a unwilling to for whatever reasons.

My bad for assuming you were on emunand. Rare to find a fellow cfw sysnand user!

Maybe not 90dns but there are some variations of it (eg. AquaticDNS IIRC) that supposedly allows one to play online while only blocking connection to ninty telemetry servers.

If it's really a ninja takedown, I wouldn't surprised given that the domain host is in Canada (might be through a US subsidiary). That's well within the reach of ninty. Why a supposedly Russian group didn't register it through a Russian domain or even a Chinese one is a mystery.
