Will my friend's online account or switch console possibly be banned because he's helping me (banned console) to undate my game located on the Mig Switch?
I'm not 100% sure but I don't think that their console will get banned for helping your banned get a game update.

If you think about it, what if your friend was unaware of your console being banned and he accidentally helped you get a game update and got his console banned in the process? That would cause a lot of issues for Nintendo since they'll be banning consoles that come in contact with the banned consoles as well which doesn't sound well for their business.

Questions for experts or ones that has experience before. Lets say, I have a Mig Switch cart, and use it and get a permanent console band. So I can't update games on Mig Switch even if it's a legit copy of my own game because my console is permanent banned.

My question is, if my friend helps me update my game on the Mig Switch by using the option "Match version with local user"... Will my friend's online account or switch console possibly be banned because he's helping me (banned console) to undate my game located on the Mig Switch?
I’ve been doing that for a minute now and have not had the other console banned

What games require an update to play? Maybe a system update but not an actual game update. Unless they released in that broken of a state

That being said most games now have a revision that includes updates(and even dlc) on them

For example my copy of rain on your parade actually has an unreleased update on it that breaks my digital copy

Hogwarts Legacy or fifa are games that need updates to play the full game

Are they updates or the rest of the game? I know some scumbag companies where putting out carts that just really just download codes for the games from the eShop

My assassin creed carts are like that. Only one or two of them are on the cart itself and for the other it directs me to the eShop

As far as we know, no. The process does work, though. I did it from my non-banned switched to my banned one with no issues. Can't see how they can ding you for doing so since a clean switch never had any "dirty" software on it.

Internal pics of a dumper. Same migswitch processors.

Mig Flash posted this to their site today. Maybe it will help the idiots telling everyone to turn on airplane mode (I still don’t know or understand how that rumor started but I blame Reddit )

01/10/2024: Important clarification about console bans

From reports we have received and seen with Mig Flash, ALL console bans to date have been because incomplete dumps have been used OR the BIN files have been mixed and matched from other gamecard dumps.
We have not seen a single ban yet when using 100% complete gamecard dumps with all BIN files and XCI coming from the same gamecard.

Additionally, turning off the Switch console WiFi does not erase any activity with incomplete dumps.
All offline activity on the console is saved and WILL be transmitted next time WiFi is enabled on the console again.

Keep this information in mind, and NEVER use dumps that are incomplete to avoid console bans.

It's probably due to folks who are unfamiliar with how ninty operates when it comes to bans or even the fact that telemetry exists. They come up with a method that they think could evade a ban but they only test it for a very short time and then eagerly share in reddit that "It's been a week and I have not been banned", some even "I wasn't immediately banned, so it should be working". When long time users like us know that ninty could ban months later. Never mind thinking of asking/reading up other more experienced communities like gbatemp.

It's also possible that they assume the"do not go online" that CFW users mention to be the magic trick when it's more than just that.

In any case, I'm sure there will be folks who read that and go "What's the point of the MIG if we can't play incomplete dumps safely?"

Despite that, I'm sure the same folks will carry on the same expectation (to be able to play incomplete dumps safely) to the unlock if and when it comes out. Then the cycle repeats and we will see claims of "switch off wifi when using unlock to avoid ban" again.

Unfortunately I'm seeing people posting about getting bans for full dumps too, provided they're from the public dump list. There really isn't a way to avoid it, it is probably worth accepting that you will be banned if you use public dumps. There are plenty of people who don't use online that it can still be a valid use case, but you kind of have to accept the consequences.

Nearly all Nintendo published games are complete on cart, with updates fixing minor issues. Third party games are a little more annoying with putting their games half on cart, half download.

I got no complaints from any others in the mods, so I sticky the thread. @TheStonedModder should the first post be edited once Unlock release their card? Maybe in the style of the PS5 post?
Once unlock release their card i was planning on overhauling the thread as a whole when I make the tutorial for that cart. It could really use an FAQ as well

But since it’s pinned now, I can work on it and make it more organized like the PS5 post after work :D that is a good suggestion I was just gonna go spoiler heavy otherwise!

I received my MIG flashcart yesterday. I'm using it with my OLED Switch, and it works perfectly. While I'd prefer CFW, paying for someone to mod it or attempting it myself wasnt possible.

I went with the Swedish based store listed on the official website (you can translate the webpage easily). I emailed in English asking if they shipped to my location and they responded very quickly. The package took four days to arrive, I'd recommend them if you're in Europe.

My experience with the flashcart has been very good. Putting backups on the cart is simple, as you'd expect. I'm using a Sandisk 256gb; be aware full Switch games can get quite large. I aim to play only one or two games at once, so I leave all the games I'm not playing in a seperate folder, not the root, to keep everything organised.

The only challenge so far has been locating full dumps. There's a torrent out there, but I cant seem to get enough seeds for the games in it I want. Still, all the popular Switch games are easy to locate, first party games and the like. I imagine thi s situation will improve as the months go on and more good samaritans volunteer their collection for the good of the high seas.

If anyone thinking about getting one has any questions I'll do my best to answer.

The more clones/rivals that come out will help too. UnlockSwitch and MigX will mean more people are playing -- and dumping hopefully.

The only thing I regret is not getting the dumper along with it. There's a handful of more niche Japanese games I wouldn't mind picking up cheap for myself and to share. Maybe in a couple weeks.
