Any «public» data is not safe for be used on your console with a MIG device, NOT EVEN OFFLINE.
I just don't get people on this. There is no "Gigabrain galaxy explosion" solution to run the same game. Nintendo have a lot of Telemetry on the Switch.
I even think Nintendo might already know how to detect the MigSwitch cartridges.

I bet they even have data on "fast switching" the games.

The cartridge reader is a completely independent computer, so No body knows what in the hell the ninjas are doing with it.

What if they were "public" carts to begin with? Aka I ripped a pile of games from the local library. :D
Yup thats literally the reason ppl are getting banned. Noobie Timmy grabs your rip and is thinking he can play MK8 online with it. Mig Switch was never an alternative to a hacked switch. Both can play dumped games offline, but a hacked switch can cover its tracks with a separate nand.

yes the only "right" scenarios I can think of:

I am a father, I have 3 kids, buy a console for each one, then a MIG for each and ONLY a cartridge and use on the consoles NEVER AT THE SAME TIME.

I have a big collection of physical cartridges and with version 2 I have no need to carry several ones all the time. and my original physical cartridges are kept safe on the library.

NO OTHER SAFE USE FOR THE DEVICE. is even explicit tell on the original page.

What I'm thinking is a retail switch would be AOK having inserted and executed a complete MIG dump (even one generated from a public source like the library) provided it wasn't online at the time of its insertion/execution.

In this scenario, it would essentially be no different then having actually borrowed the original/physical cart from the library.

However... Even inserting an incomplete MIG dump (regardless of actual execution) would place faked cart IDs into the retail consoles system NAND, where it could be checked/ban at any future point when connecting.

I already have a ban original/hacked Switch, what I'm trying to do is keep my retail Switch Lite from getting ban (while still being able to enjoy a full collection of games because I never purchased any in the first place).

I absolutely prefer launching games from the MIG, yes even on the hacked Switch.
Having to hunt down the latest sigpatches is a pain I no longer need to worry about.
It has created a new issue, having to re-collect games I'd previously dumped in (non-convertible) NSP format.

Good to know, I've only inserted the MIG into this retail Lite once... and all the images contained were complete/generated by me personally.

I suspect the rise in incomplete working dumps around the internet has to due with keeping the original carts unique ID private/preserved?
There are too few Switch flashcarts out there for any scene group to bother, specially considering how easier (and healthier) the emulation-side of the community is.

And that one is complete dumps, so no
It isn't all complete dumps, in fact, they moved to only complete dumps after users complained about receiving what they called as "temporary bans" after using incomplete/mixed dumps.

Yes, "temporary" xD

I was aware of this...

The original torrent contained all four possible types of working MIG dumps, incomplete (missing cart IDs), complete (full dump), incomplete trim (missing cart IDs with XCI trimmed) and complete trim (full dump with XCI trimmed).

I believe users got bans not for complete dumps, but for the trash they might have been totally unaware of (like the complete trim example, you might believe it was a true complete).

After speaking with y'all/other MIG users, I now feel the best format for widespread internet release is incomplete trim.
Accepting these dumps must NEVER be inserted into a non-ban retail Switch.

Best format for personal use is complete, these can be made from public sources (like the example of a local library) provided YOU created the dump and did NOT share it (would increase risk of simultaneous connection).
Accepting this could change at any time on Nintendo's end (new detection method) and you might be ban anyway. *shrug*

There’s no way they were using trimmed files. Those don’t work at all

I don't understand this statement at all...

1. The torrent most certainly did contain a few complete dumps with the XCI's trimmed (yes I know that's just baffling, why would you ever do such a thing).

2. These otherwise complete but trimmed dumps most certainly booted on my MIG cart inside my ban/hacked Switch (what do you mean don't work).

If you recall my question from yesterday...
"Are trimmed XCI files at the same level of "safe" online so long as they are otherwise complete?"
It was because I'm in possession of some of these *cough*trash*cough* dumps, and I might have been considering testing them online using a retail Switch Lite (I'm really glad I did not do this thanks to information shared here).

I wonder what format the future will favor once the official Nintendo Switch networks inevitable shutdown occurs?
I almost feel like its going to be a trimmed XCI variant, just like we saw with Wii images (only the original DVD drive mods required the use of full/untrimmed ISOs and these have all but been abandon today). I don't believe it will be NSP based, the "install" factor plus the fact they can be generated from an XCI would make them less favorable.

What I’m getting at is they are lying

Dump your own game and trim it yourself and it won’t work at alll

I’ve tried several times and so have others

Very interesting! I haven't attempted to trim any of my personal dumps.

I'm going to give this a try right now (details very soon).

Yea I don't know how you are making/trimming your XCI's but for me this works just fine.
