why waste any of my precious 512MB of flash memory (GG nintendo) on some jap channels that don't even work?

Anyone too lazy to do the 15% trick should feel ashamed of themselves. Even I did it and i'm the most paranoid person there is.

My concern is that the dual layer code may be written at the end of the update. Turning the console off at 15% would then break DL support.

Turning the Wii off avoids the duplicated channels and all, and allows the SL version of the game to recognise update and play, but when we get a DL dump of Brawl I'm afraid the game will not run at all because the DL code is not copied to the Wii.
That would be no problem at all.
You can just put in the non brickblocked disc then it would update again.

My dad has unlimited access to flashcarts.

So im fine with that

but yeah it most be anoying.
If i don't do the 15% does it semi brick your wii

15% trick is guaranteed safe. Because if you put the non brickblocker game in it asks to update again. So you never really updated the console.

15% trick is the way to go

blindr tells the truth

It's what I keep telling everyone. When the game comes out in your region you just apply the patch that comes with the game and you're fine. It's been done in the past. People who ran the patch 100% I think we're very stupid. You guys never did foreign firmware upgrades in the past because of brick and semi-brick possibility. and you risk it all to play this game. What happens when you can't update to the right firmware of your disc in enlgish and have to wait for an even later one (if that works at all (but i assume it would)) Just a long long wait. But if it was worth it to play the game a few weeks earlier....then it's not upto anyone to tell you otherwise I guess...
