...Did you really just call those "Minigames"? Do you even know what a Minigame IS?!

Pilotwings - Hell no. It's not worth the $40, but it's in no way, shape, or form, a minigame. It's closer to a tech demo.

SSF4 3DE - This is a full fledged game. How in the WORLD could this be a minigame-game? Worth the price for those who like Fighting games.

TCGhost Recon:Shadow Wars - This game has over 24 hours of content if you play it on Veteren. It's a strategy game, at that. No. Worth the price of ANY FPS that releases on a console.

Asphalt 3D - Racing game. Haven't played it, but I seriously doubt it's a minigame for racing.

Ridge Racer 3D - See above

Pac-Man - Meaning anything Pacman is minigame, right? We don't even have it yet, how can you judge it before then? Or are you magically from the future? Most likely will be worth $40, if that's what it's at.

NanoAssault(NanoStray 3) - It's schmup. YMMV-type of game. But far...far...far from a minigame game. Esspecially if it has as much content as 2 did. Definitely worth the price.

Sims 3 - Did you really just call a Sims game a minigame? Do you even get what Sims is? (Hint: add -ulator to it.) Worth the price for those who enjoy Sims. Probably.

I'm sorry, but if you don't know what "minigames" really are, go play some of the shitware on the DS. Then you will know what a minigame-game is.

For me Pilotwings is well worth the money. All the reviews complaining about it being too short are missing the point - the real challenge is not in just completing the missions but in getting gold on everything. I like the type of games where you gradually refine your skills towards achieving perfection.

Pilotwings is also a pretty relaxing game if you just play the free mode. At about 10+ hours playing time so far it was worth the normal price for me, even though I don't like the missions that much (and haven't completed them yet).

QUOTE(Dark Langin @ Jun 15 2011, 06:24 PM) Hmphh this is reality. It always starts like this; Ds; Pokémon Dash :sigh:
Pokémon Dash was abysmal, but somehow I ended up importing it after buying every other (US/JPN) launch title.

@shinkukage09: The OP never said that SSFIV was a minigame.

I'm the opposite with PilotWings.. going for perfect's but keep messing up in one platinum mission. PilotWings has been tons of fun, and I have 3 others.. ndogs/sf/DoA..

But they aren't really all that new.

The problem with games on the 3DS is that I need more. After Zelda the Summer will be so dry.. It's holiday or bust with the 3DS even though I bought it on launch in March

The problem with 3DS games right now is not that they're all just mini games, a small amount are sure, but mostly it's just almost no A level efforts, and even the A-game Super SF4 is poor due to wonky AI and absolutely terrible controls they tried to make up for with lame touch boxes.

If you look pre-Zelda much of it is B team efforts with a rare gem depending on your tastes. Ridge Racer and Pilotwings were on par with previous stuff from each series and they're great, but little else is a real grab and those that are dont' appear to have been handled well and more likely shoveled out as early titles to make a fast buck before the good stuff shows and crowds it out.

What about it? It runs at full speed.

I'm with shinkukage09 on this one. WTF is this shit about "minigames"? It's...no. Just no. A 'minigame' is by definition a smaller, simpler game within the context of a bigger game. Without that, it isn't a minigame. It's simple as that. There are no rules about how complex a minigame is, how much space it takes within the context of the game itself or even if it is obligated to fulfill or not.

Now...you can certainly claim that some 3DS games feel as if they are too small or simple (or even downright short), considering the price of purchase. And I would agree. But just calling them minigames (worse: saying they ARE minigames) because you like the sound of the word is just ignorant. I may like the word leprechaun, and leprechauns are small as well...it doesn't make 3DS games leprechauns.

Anyway...gramar nazism aside...the price/quality ratio is certainly screwed up. I think that many developers/distributors overestimated the importance of the 3D effect. And probably understimated the fact that the standards for games have changed. Not too long ago, nintendo named apple their major competitor when it comes to gaming. It's not hard to see why: just take a look at puzzle bobble. Do they really expect people to buy a game for TEN TIMES the money it costs on iphone, just because it has a 3D effect?
We also value work and effort. Is pilot wings a good game? I hear from pretty much everyone that it is. Why haven't I bought it? Easy: because I already have it. And 11 other sports. And a wiimote plus thingy. And for sake of the thread: it was a minigame back then.
Do I want to pay for it again? Sure...I value the work of them porting it over. But I don't feel like paying 50 bucks for a simple copy-paste job.
