The HP cheats for "Dragon Quest" don't work!!...
Only in the begining for the first guy in the armor... the Knight guy (forgot his name)

Please fix it...

The Japanese version of DQ4 had similar code labeling errors.

The Playable Characters are Ragnar McRyan (the Knight guy), Tsarevna Alena,
Torneko, Meena and Maya (the twins), and the Hero (the boy with the frog at the beginning).

The cheats are apparently for Ragnar (mislabeled as the "Hero") and probably Alena (mislabeled as the "Heroine").
I fixed this for the (J) version because it bothered me so much, although I never used these cheats.
I hope someone will find the codes for the other 4 playables and correct the labels for (E).

For the (E) version I have added/modded 3 cheats for my own personal use:

I don't believe there is anything wrong with the actual cheat but the problem consists more of a checksum verification of the save data. Some games use a checksum to check to make sure the save data hasn't been tampered with. Using some cheats and also manually modifying the save file by hex editing it would invalidate this check and show a warning that the save became corrupted. Whats needed is a Save Checksum bypass cheat to bypass this check.

A possible fix for this is to add a button activator to only turn on the cheat when its needed. So for example, you hold down select after a battle to get max gold and thats it. This would prevent the cold from always being active which would mess up save validation value.

I just turned the cheat on, and then I saved it. I turned the game off and turned the cheat off and now I have max gold and it does not mess up my game.

I am in chapter 4 of DQ4, so I can only test the codes for Meena and Maya.

I have tested the first HP code for each and they work correctly! Good Job!

Notes:

1. You do not include any codes for the Hero (chapter 5)

3. Ragnar, Alena and Torneko are not magic users, so MP codes are not relevant for them,
they cannot use MP. But there is probably no harm to include them, except bloat.
