so, i can distribute xenofile v0.70d1.101105 + source?
Under the same term as DeSmuME, you may do anything... It is what is written in law (GPL). Anyway you should consider why there are no xenofile distro.

Possibly wood version won't be updated.
But you can still extract loaders from Official woodr4 release.

If it could load ROMs it would be useful but it can't.
Do you have a release date of a version for MenuDO that will be of any use to anyone?
At it's current state it might as well just be a .nds that we can load from our OS that works...

...it uses donors to load ROMs o.0?

MENUdo isn't a ROM loader, so it will never be able to load ROMs directly... that's not what it's made for. At one time it was supposed to, but you try and code a ROM loader like that. It's not easy. However, like jurrasicplayer stated it uses donors (sort of like an instruction forwarding system to an external loader to tell it what ROM to load) to load ROMs. Stating that this has no use is kind of extreme though, don't you think? It has plenty of uses, clearly you haven't tried using it enough.

well, technically it does have a loader for homebrew, but i'm just being pedantic

it's kind of neat to poke around the source, there are clear provisions in it for a future commercial rom loader that never came to pass.

You have to use the extractor that will never be released in order to get the loader.

I still can't get homebrew or roms to load on ysmenu for r4 sdhc. I get two black screens.
Did you make sure the nds.ini is for YSmenu and not for AKAIO?
As well make sure it points to the proper boot location?

You can find the nds.ini in the donors folder of the _menudo folder

zomfg a calculator! That's not worth making this a main OS... -.-
It needs to just be packing into a rom and used game-style. It's not worthy of being a OS
mellow.gif

If it wasn't made to run ROMS, it shouldn't have been made at all. Who the hell wants to use this crap as a OS and NOT play games? Really? That's pretty retarded. "I know what I'll do today, I'll type numbers on a calculator for 4 hours... who needs games?" (idgaf bout donors, it should have been made to LOAD ROMs to be called a "OS" - it does not - so this needs to be a .nds file that can be ran from a actual OS, ya know, that thing you CAN play games from >.>)
80% of the features don't work and the 20% that do are completely useless.
Props to the guy who wasted his time making this so-called "OS" but really, he could have made it do something other than suck, not work, not load ROMs, and waste peoples time.

When it actually does something, I'll change my opinion - but until then. This is failware.

Don't be such a moron. It is an AMAZING piece of homebrew, which CAN already be loaded as a .NDS file from any loader. The purpose is not as a ROM loader, but a all round homebrew tool and HOMEBREW loader.

And it CAN load ROMs as you have been told, via donors. It makes NO DIFFERENCE whether ROM loading is built in or via a "donor", in fact, this way is better as it means that it uses your card's official (or best) ROM loader, meaning that the latest games are likely to work with the fixes in your card's latest official loaders.

You are an absolute moron if you cannot see what is plainly in front of you. It CAN load ROMs on most cards, just the ROM loading code is in an external file. Guess what? In several firmwares (e.g. AKAIO), the loaders are external files anyway. No difference.

And your statistics for working/non working features are very inaccurate. The vast majority of features (mExplore, Doodle, Music Player, loading homebrew, loading ROMs, theming, autobooting other homebrew etc.) DO work, mostly perfectly, some a little buggy.

If you don't want to use it, stay out of this thread and ignore menuDO. Nobody here cares if you use it or not. But please do not insult the time spent by a developer working on ANY piece of code. Clearly a large number of people DO find this useful, this thread and the other menuDO thread are filled with approving comments. Don't try to make your opinion seem like fact.

If you believe that for an OS rom loading is the only thing that matters, then you have a very limited perspective.

Having the possibility to change the loader easily is actually a real advantage here.
You get an OS with a lot of functions, capability to look really nice and use whatever loader you want to use, as long as it is working on your module. You don't have to stick with the OS that usually operates on the loader, especially if menuDO is capable of more than the original OS, yet you can use the loading capabilites. I think thats pretty useful.

But I guess if you only use the DS to play then menuDO is of course not necessary to be used, your loaders original OS will do the job as well. There is no need for a possibly better looking OS that could have more functionality
