i have this same problem too but I've updated my wiikey to latest firmware.

Have only tried Mario Kart though

it's different for every chip. go to your chip's website and download the latest firmware. All major chips have fixes for this 001 error.

could you not use a ppf tool and appropriate ppf file to patch your disc images before burnt? thats how i get around this problem all the time seems to work a treat on my old un-updatable wiinja chip
