what is the point in all these tetris homebrews when the official is so good anyway? im probably missing something that the official tetris doesn't have so yeah just point that out to me.

I think mainly for the fun of developing, or unique settings like tepples' Tetris clone has.

Tetris is pretty much the second hello (computer games) world after pong and I find most tend to hark back to the original tetris versions or with the stuff like tetanus on drugs/LOCKJAW: The Overdose (no "infinite" spin is usually the main one).
