Any luck with Red Steel?

Red Steel should work if IOS Version patched to use IOS249 or if you have cioscorp installed. Sadly this version does not trick the Wii to not reload the IOS so it'S really required to patch to the IOS(or replace the IOS).

Any ideas on getting it to work, or is it just not going to happen

I know this is off-topic but, what IOS do I need to run games that require a disc inserted to run without disc? (Metroid Prime 3 for example)
Thanks

? The game works, just has special requirements.

Does it have more than 1 .dol? If not, you "only" have to find the code in the main.dol that loads the IOS specifed in the tmd and redirect it to IOS249. You need to disassemble the game for this and a lot more coding skills than i have. But it will work if/when somebody spends enough time for it. Oh and it will only work if the game does not do any super ultra weird stuff like reloading its own .dol.

If somebody does that for Red Steel, the same patch might work on other games, but it does not have to work.

I partially got Metroid Prime WiiMake working on the Usb Loader thanks to WiiPower's idea with the Main.Dol well Kindof

Use WiiSrubber extract Rs5mp1JPn_P.dol take it and rename it main.dol and just replace it with the Main.dol on the Disc with wii Scrubber and then Copy your Game back to the USB Loader, game works perfectly but you can't save. i dont think haven't tried yet, but pretty sure you can't load a save cause it bypasses the menu

edit: Save fixes below, just read all post carefully

edited: So People can understand it alittle better

Does this skip the menu? Does the loader you use do an ES_Identify? If not, what happens if you run it with my toy and IOS222, are you able to save then?

skips the menu, Kindof sucks but works, pretty sure it doesn't matter what loader i use which is 1.5Org , cause it skips the menu doing this, it probably can save, but i never be able to load a save, More than likely a Useless post here, just thought i'd share

EDIT: Scratch that it does load up the save, it does it automatically, But i did have to start a new game from using the disc channel and save it in there, than using the USB Loader it loads up the save, i'm pretty sure saving will now work has long has you already have a Save already, All of by doing what i said above.

edit: And finally the game does save, just tested

so for metroid prime to get it working do what i said above, create a save game from the disc channel so you have a Fresh Save, and from now on it will save and load saves correctly from the USB Loader

So in short:
- Patch the .iso to use IOS249
- burn it
- start with SoftChip or NeoGamma and create a save
- apply the patches you want(english patch for example)
- replace the .dol like WiiBlaster said
- put that .iso on your HDD

PS: Would downloading a start new game save and install it work too?

yea and for saving you will have to create a save using the disc channel {edit: Or Backup Loader}, cause it will not create new save using the USB Loader, but once you create the save using the disc channel or Backup Loader the game will than save and load saves correctly from the USB Loader

edit downloading a start game save should also work yea but not tested

Why does it have to be the disc channel? You can play the game in SoftChip and Gamma, why not create the save with them? Is it different then? I doubt that, because it would be different too when using the usb loader.

Sorry, but am I understanding these instructions correctly?

Using WiiScrubber, extract a the file named Rs5mp1JPn.dol to my PC's HD. Rename that file to main.dol and then put it back on the ISO, replacing whatever main.dol was already there. Does this require any other tools, like the Trucha Signer (I'm only referring to the above instructions, not patching the IOS or anything else)? Thanks for any more info.

Trucha Signer and WiiScrubber are very similar tools. You could replace the .dol with Trucha Signer too if you want to.

OK, thanks for the reply. New to all of this. And I take it Trucha Signing the partition is always required before closing the program?

Looking forward to giving this a try.

Yes. WiiScubber does it automatically(before you get mad searching the option...).
