Anyone had this issue before? This is the 5th or so N3DS I've set up and haven't had this issue before. I have Terraria CIA installed and when I hover it, it says 'game update available'. I press Y to install the update. The download bar appears to progress, and ultimately will say. 'Update data downloaded. You can check the data in the system settings > data management > Nintendo 3DS > downloadable content.' I hit 'OK' to close the popup, and hover the game again and it still says 'update available'. When I went to create a new world in game, the 'big world' or whatever option for N3DS/N2DS is not available, indicating that it is in fact not updated. I was able to see the data under 3ds data management > Extra data, but then I uninstalled the game and ex data using FBI. I reinstalled fresh from a new CIA. Same issue, except now I can't even see the data under data management.

OK so just remembered Terraria is an eshop only game. When you update a cart game only the update is downloaded but with an eshop only title the whole game is redownloaded with the new update already included. As you did not legitimately buy the game from the eshop that is why you are having this issue. You will need to find a new cia version of the game online that already has the update applied.

Okay. I've never seen your game reviews before. Where are they posted, reviews section?
  • nitr8 @ nitr8:
Fun fact: I'm using SDL to run the game but the controls for the SDL port to the Wii just suck so I'm using arbitrary code for that which works pretty well.

I also did the same for the ports of DOOM, HERE;TIC, HEXEN, STRIFE, ROTT and HEXEN II

@nitr8, When there's a will, there's always a way, I suppose. Arent there any other SDL libraries that are up-to-date to support the Wii, or other compatibles?
  • nitr8 @ nitr8:
There exists a SDL2 port to the Wii. But as far as I can tell it's worse than the SDL v1.2 port. I couldn't even manage to get the 32x240 screen of the game stretched to the 640x480 viewable region of the port. It would only work when using game resolution 640x480 as well but due to the game video being run as software emulation, it just runs slow with anything higher than 320x240

I mean - I'm fine with the original DOS feeling of 320x240 pixels. There's nothing wrong about it. It just feels more "original". DOS resolutions like 640x480 were based on VESA anyway like BLOOD actually used VESA for screen resolutions > 640x480
