Neat. Also that "but" is misleading, I thought it was going to be something negative. :P

I wonder if they will get the other IPs back. Hopefully a repeat doesn't happen.

I wouldn't have said "but" though, I'd have said "also", she said something negative so I countered with a positive:P

    But those were only facts? And positive in a sense that they got revived and a few of the staff back. Though yeah, let's not debate the one word. ;o;

I think the fate of Tales from the Borderlands is up in the air atm, but I could more than easily see Gearbox lend the license back out. Would be a good way to capitalize on the hype of BL3 post-release. Though a game being put into development in the coming months might not release until like, 1-2 years from now, and by them the BL3 hype would calmed down. Unless the Steam release drives interest back up again? I think that would be their best bet to work on first, if they could choose from any of their previous titles.

I tried to as well, but all I can find is a music business? But they're not set in the same part of California, so I don't think they're related.

I was also curious. It does seem to be a holding company a few people went in on a venture for.

    https://venturebeat.com/2019/08/28/lcg-entertainment-game-veterans-buy-telltale-games/

Not heard of most of those before by name but they were high profile enough to have a bit found on them
    Jamie Ottilie

Few things there, mostly mid tier games or franchises past their prime. Venturebeat also noted he had run http://gpcgames.com/games/mobile/ for the last however many years.

    Brian Waddle

Only two business roles listed there but for God of War III (2010) and Shadow of the Tomb Raider (2018).

http://www.athlongames.com/ are a subsidiary of Chinese company Leyou (smaller company, no ties to much that I can see) but do own a porting company, a license to Lord of the Rings and count Warframe among things they are involved in.

    Tobias Sjögren
    https://www.mobygames.com/developer/sheet/view/developerId,353678/
Another business guy, not sure if he is also the one to helm White Wolf (bunch of classic pen and paper titles) before it got sucked back into Paradox interactive. https://www.pgconnects.com/london/speakers/tobias-sjogren/ has a bit more.

Chris Kingsley, part of rebellion (sniper elite, alien vs predator, also own the Judge Dredd comics and make games based on them).

    Lyle Hall
    https://www.mobygames.com/developer/sheet/view/developerId,4199/
Business/management guy. Interesting stuff back in the 90s but not much this last 10 years and before that was film tie in and kids games.

The problem started when they tried to do more than one game at the same time. That's part of the reason the Wallace and Gromit game got so little advertising.

Simply put they didn't have enough staff and money to do more than one game at once ywt they did anyway by borrowing money and hiring temps and... you know how that ended.

Worse when they got a real success, they sucked at managing the money and got even more ambitious.

I agree with Switch Ports and TWAU2... I think GoT2 was planned at some time as well. Also think a move to Unity or UE would do them good.

Well, this is a good one. I liked the Walking Dead games a lot, unlike the tv series. Although there isn't going to be more new games of said franchise, at least the others are good. We'll see what happens!!

Gotta love it when companies fake their own death like Toys R Us, or in this case, Telltale games...

Regardless if TTG was bought by another company, as long as they can continue to sell the old games and continue to make more games in the future with the same spirit and quality of the old TTG, I feel that this is a good thing. Lets hope this new company can manage money better than the leaders of the original that destroyed this great developer.

You're right. But but if ahem.. sequels like this being made, focus on the original games is lost..
I much rather have a sequel in the form like Thimbleweed Park, or Monkey Island special editions.

Telltale just didn't had what it takes to pick up some old classic ip's. Like i said, the new ones are ok.
