Hacking System Update Emunand with Gateway 3DS

Hello,

I want to update my Emunand to the latest Firmware 7.1. But I don't want that my purchases of the e-shop will be lost after the update.

Is this order correct?
Start Gateway Mode --> Update Firmware --> Backup NAND
Will my e-shop purchases still be there after that?
