So my current 3DS has a cracked screen and somehow amiibo aren't working, so it's time for a new system. I have a sysNAND AND dual emuNANDs.
First off, could I just system transfer a9lh sysNAND to a9lh sysNAND? What would not be transferred in terms of hacks?
Would my emuNANDs be safe? I don't think it would boot on my new system, nor do I think I can use my other console's NAND backups. How do I get them to work? One of my emuNANDs is Japanese and I can't traditionally System Transfer. Wat do?
..
Initially it would be as easy as a motherboardswap, but the amiibo problem is definitely a hardware problem, and I don't think it's the antenna as it takes time to read all of my amiibo but rules them as Invalid or incompatible, though I was using them just fine.
This isn't good.

TL;DR, I have a monster 3DS setup. sysNAND and two emuNANDs. How do I transfer EVERYTHING, assuming my new n3DS is also a9lh enabled. Should I use two SD Cards? Because of my emuNANDs. I think I'd need to have to have the same NAND setups on the new system and transfer the same way.

Here's your response.
But really set up a9lh on your new console then just do a Nintendo system transfer for both emunands. It's not as though your sysNAND really matters. Of course, you'll need to install a9lh from scratch, as it's not as though Ninty's transfer will transfer FIRM0/1. Besides which even if they did it would brick because a9lh is console specific of course.

you cant because each system has different otp.
if we can system transfer a nand with otp then why the hell do we still do
do these hardcore prodecures to get a9lh?

What does this have to do with my post haha. Do you like to be mad?

Okay, that's like I thought. Thanks. However, can I system transfer on my JP emuNAND because I thought anything network related was blocked on artificially changed NANDs?
EDIT: the System Transfer app is kicking me out until I visit the eShop. I'm assuming I'm out of luck for this?

emuNAND's cannot be transferred as far know???
Your sysNAND (same region for your console) can be transferred using Nintendo's system transfer, however they will need to be on the latest firmware version for both consoles.
You can however transfer your emuNAND (same region as your console) to your sysNAND (same region as your console) ....then update it and then transfer it using Nintendo's system Transfer.

yall im torn... ive been hacking away at tales of phantasia GBA (the USA version) and have so many documents of reverse engineering i've done
  • TwoSpikedHands @ TwoSpikedHands:
I just found out that the EU version is better in literally every way, better sound quality, better lighting, and there's even a patch someone made to make the text look nicer
  • TwoSpikedHands @ TwoSpikedHands:
Do I restart now using what i've learned on the EU version since it's a better overall experience? or do I continue with the US version since that is what ive been using, and if someone decides to play my hack, it would most likely be that version?
  • Sicklyboy @ Sicklyboy:
@TwoSpikedHands, I'll preface this with the fact that I know nothing about the game, but, I think it depends on what your goals are. Are you trying to make a definitive version of the game? You may want to refocus your efforts on the EU version then. Or, are you trying to make a better US version? In which case, the only way to make a better US version is to keep on plugging away at that one ;)
  • Sicklyboy @ Sicklyboy:
I'm not familiar with the technicalities of the differences between the two versions, but I'm wondering if at least some of those differences are things that you could port over to the US version in your patch without having to include copyrighted assets from the EU version
  • TwoSpikedHands @ TwoSpikedHands:
@Sicklyboy I am wanting to fully change the game and bend it to my will lol. I would like to eventually have the ability to add more characters, enemies, even have a completely different story if i wanted. I already have the ability to change the tilemaps in the US version, so I can basically make my own map and warp to it in game - so I'm pretty far into it!
  • TwoSpikedHands @ TwoSpikedHands:
I really would like to make a hack that I would enjoy playing, and maybe other people would too. swapping to the EU version would also mean my US friends could not legally play it
  • TwoSpikedHands @ TwoSpikedHands:
I am definitely considering porting over some of the EU features without using the actual ROM itself, tbh that would probably be the best way to go about it... but i'm sad that the voice acting is so.... not good on the US version. May not be a way around that though
