Hey I'm a noob... My Wii is region changed to 4.3J, has been working fine forever until I today tried to open a download of Gecko OS in the Homebrew channel, now my Wii displays the "Press A to Proceed" but is just black after that. How do I fix this?

I can still access the Homebrew Channel via Priiloader and then use a loader app so it's actually not a huge deal but I'd love to not have this problem. Grateful for replies.

If it said "The system files are corrupted" then you'll have to use Priiloader to.... actually, I'm not sure if the problem occured so randomly.

He said it was just a black screen. It must be some kind of banner brick, but I have no idea how it would happen if he installed nothing other than a homebrew app.

What happened when you opened Gecko OS?

Edit: Try holding + and - as you press A at the health screen.

I was able to access it via that! O.o whats the problem
And for the other thing theres nothing to elaborate, literally only a black screen.

Something else is going on here. gladJonas did you change your consoles region recently. Thats a very dangerous and outdated practice. Also are you able to run the syscheck app by loading hbc with priiloader? If so the results of a scan with that would be very helpful

Wow! You might have a mail brick. Those are very rare, consider yourself (un)lucky.
The way to fix this is to format the Wii. Backup all your save files and data first, of course.

Or, use this method:
Det1re's Method
First download http://det1re.de/d/hb/mailbox_brick_fix-det1re.rar "Det1re's Mailbox Brick Fix".
1. Copy "apps" and "fstoolbox" to your SD card root and overwrite if asked.
2. Startup the Wii and boot HBC (you can use BootMii, Preloader or the Maintainance mode)
to do so.
3. From HBC, run FSToolbox r50 and follow the on-screen instructions until you see your
Wii's file struct (import, meta, shared1, shared2, sys, ticket, title, tmp).
4. Navigate to shared2/wc24/ and replace any file with the one from SD by pressing PLUS.
5. Navigate to shared2/wc24/mbox/ and do the same there.
6. End the app and restart the Wii. You will get a message that your Mail account is broken
and will be restored.

BEFORE YOU DO ANYTHING, can you try to run syscheck? Formatting might make matters worse wirhout knowing the underlyibg cause of the brick

Lol. Yeah maybe its stupid but I couldnt find out how to do what I wanted without changing region.. (Run ntsc framerate wads on pal wii, i could force it with a loader but on reset it would become pal again, and i wanted to speedrun some games)
