well theres finally been a brick, someone over on Wiiso, installed the IOS's and got a error on IOS38bugfix when installing so figured he would Just uninstall all the IOS's I clearly stated not to ever uninstall the IOS's

You can guess its a full brick no recovery, unless he can nand flash, I might end up removing the thread over there if people can't follow the instructions.

So people over here listen up if you want to remove the patchs you need to install your org IOS's over top the patched ones never uninstall the IOS's You will be prementally Bricked Which i'm sure any common person would know,

Damn, did this project just go into overdrive cause somebody threw us a bone?

Just want to report I played around with the Menu Loader. There are 2 versions I found. 1. The original by Marcan and Bushing, it works great and is very simple text interface. More or less does the same stuff as GeckoOS. 2. The modified version by Raven which I have in a Channel package. It loads but the options are different and I was unable to get a PAL disc to show up in disc channel after about 20 tries with different settings.

Would be sweet if preloader could load the marcan bushing version off SD at boot with configurable defaults.

Is there any other way that exists than the TP Hack to force the Wii to initialize and load boot.dol from the SD? I could swear somebody had come up with another way to do that. But if that were true I'm sure it would have been exploited to death by now.

i feel bad for the guy, but at the end of the day you play with fire you get burned...

just inspired me to start collecting the original IOS's for my system....

its definatley come home how dangerous this is.

EDIT - the Iron man himself jus hooked me up :-p

How can you feel sorry for someone when you Post in Big Red Letters at the beginning of the thread on what not to do, Adn they do it anyways and brick, and then come to me for help, I can i respond to that, That just pisses me off

Jizmo - Preloader will allow you to run installed dol from sd.

Having said that tho, ive had no success with menu patcher.

The only incompatibility with preloader on NTSC was that you could not load the system menu, all other options working great tho.

Forget Menu Patcher, It requires Wanninkoko's CIOS, doesn't work with WiiGator's CIOS.

put Menu Loader http://wiibrew.org/wiki/Menu_Loader on you SD and boot to that.

If you can get that to boot and apply itself with some defined default settings that would be the shiznitz.

I suppose you could install Waninkokos CIOS at IOS249 and Patch System Menu to use 249 if you wanted to use Menu Patcher. Can't guarantee that would work but seems like it would.

This is no ones fault but his own WiiBlaster - every warning has been given to pretty much everyone - maybe not on all sites, but then again they should come here if they want the most up to date info on this - i know id be in here checking things before i even turned my wii on.

Might be an idea to add to the sigs that someone has bricked while playing so dont do this unless your comfortable toying with your wii just to make others aware - its still a great project , dont let stupidity slow anyone else down.

I understand that preloader on NTSC does not load to the system menu. The question is, will the system menu not load only from preloader, or will not load no matter what?

What if preloader loads Menu Loader... You set options... Then when you Apply Menu Loader will the System Menu load since it's being loaded by Menu Loader and not Preloader?

I think first just doing the Preloader... Menu Loader... System Menu ... sequence needs tested on a PAL system.

you know who you are.

EDIT: When people were playing with Preloader when it was first leaked, did any of you on ntsc use it to load Homebrew Channel at boot then Exit HB Channel and see if the System Menu loaded from there?

I used it on NSTC and was able to get the it to boot the System menu, by installing the 3.2e system menu wad with Wad Manager and then using Any Region Changer to change the console area setting to PAL you couldn't even tell,

But also on a true blue NSTC running console it doesn't load the NSTC system menu but does autoboot everythign from dols to HBC just fine

lol been out all day and read the news about a guy being bricked. Can't help but laugh.

i also installed on another wii sucsessfully!

As i m writing on my DS i cant respond to that pm yet jizmo but thanks for the offer, maybe tommorow.

Well i dont think it is funny, cause i really hate when somone bricks but i dont hold any responsibility for it either.

That's something I was considdering just a couple hours ago. I wasn't sure you could load the 3.2e system menu on a 3.2u system. With Any Region Changer, is changing the console area setting just a matter of toggling 1 register/bit or does it do more than that?

EDIT: Nevermind, i downloaded it and played with it a while. I tried changing the Game Region setting, but as I expected that did not make PAL games display in my system menu.

I was expecting that maybe the NTSC games wouldn't run but they do. So it looks like Region Free Gaming is working correctly, just the System Menu needs to be Region Free'd to display both NTSC and PAL Icons/Banner. I'm pretty sure at this point, if we can just get system menu to display it, it will run.

the 3.2e wad just installs over the 3.2u system menu, and then you use anyregion changer and only change the console are setting to NSTC doing that keeps you from getting the Opera Error in the settings menu, I may have the console area setting backwards can't remember, or i guess you could just do everything from the Anyregion Changer, and use it to install the PAl 3.2 wad, just set the console area setting to NSTC and change nothing else

So If I install the 3.2e wad from wad manager using Homebrew Channel I'm assuming I have to Change the console Region with Any Region Changer before I exit back to system menu? I'll probably play with this stuff tomorrow afternoon. I really want some feedback on Preloader --> Menu Loader --> System Menu. I think that will do exactly what we want. Just need to make the Menu Loader (or clone) automatic with no user entry required. Being a Marcan - Bushing project I doubt there's source code available.

There's only one thing though... from what I understand... the reason the menuloader or menupatcher can't be used is because there is nothing to patch yet because supposedly preloader was just to prove to the Bootmii boys that they werent the only ones to get into boot#... So anyways... the menu loader and patcher patch the menu I guess that would be in memory...well if it is done before the menu is loaded there is nothing to patch yet... the menu has to be loaded first according to Linkinworm in the preloader thread... So I am afraid we're spinning wheels there....

Gotcha! :{ That's what I was afraid of. Who has and can edit the system menu source code?

Spinning wheels got to go round.
