Ok Ok, I'll stop posting so much. I'll try to make up for the last one with this simple thought.

Current Native Backup Loading through the Disc Channel can be broken down into 4 simple qualifiers.

1. You must have a Dip patched IOS
2. The System Menu must be pointed to a Dip patched IOS
3. The game must be pointed to a Dip patched IOS
4. The game must have your Wii's Region Code

The CIOSCORP installation blankets items 1,2 and 3 with simplicity.
And item #4 doesn't look too difficult.

Is it not possible to have a system menu that includes the codes for both regions?
OR
this is probably getting into bootmii and cSM, but having the ability to load either a Pal or NTSC system menu on startup.

Since region coding is almost entirely a software issue (as long as your display supports both outputs), then we should be able to encode region free gameplay into either the system menu or the IOS's

Bloated thread but I hope some of the ppl that patched their systemmenu is still following it.

Could someone with this setup try if it reads DualLayer backup discs?
Personally I don't want to risk trying something like this untill bootMii is released..

BootMii isn't going to do shit for backup loaders anyway, so what's the point in that been in the equation eventually anyway.....

Actually I think bootmii will be the turning point for 6x backups. Think about it, if we have complete control whats to stop someone writing a program to run on load that rips the drive firmware. Then it would just be a matter or writting a new one, or writing a program to override the 3x limit for DVD discs, since its access to the firmware that has prevented this up to now. Plus having guaranteed brick prevention allows us to be alot more experimental with our wii.
BootMii isn't going to help at all, yeah when released it will solve many bricks, but it's not complete brick protection....Bootmii is easily removed but not uninstallable....

I don't see why 6x speed is needed anyway, iv'e pissed around with the softmod iv'e done for others and it's pretty neat....using my own discs. i do agree would be simply the best if the drives firmware was cracked, but who is going to try this? Hasn't been touched yet as it's to dam dangerous, i don't think it's going to happen, not only that but wii2 is out possibly 2010. so hehe

Can someone please tell me what original 1:1 .iso would have the ios9 in it?? I could of sworn some said in the Mario Party 8 but it's not in there or MarioKart... I have both the originals of those and dumped and did not see IOS9.wad in there.... I think this is the only original ios I am missing.... Or someone please PM me to complete my list of original ioses...

I don't know why people don't see x6 read speed is good.
Get a backup version of Cod:WaW play it for 2 or so hours.
Then get the original and compare.
The graphics look alot better because of the textures. I thought the graphics were horrible till i just sat there looking at the wall for 20 seconds and then pop
textures loaded.

***If you are new to reading this and want to try it... please read this thread... Obviously this person was trying the CIOSCORP... first of all there was no need to install a patched systemmenu to 249... that was during initial testing of this method of loading backups.

Hey, I apologize if I offended the thread maker... but this is the kinda stuff we are talking about...when it is warned not to try this until it is officially considered an official method... Simple mistakes can cause a big

get it?!

Another Wii here running on Multiple-cIOS !!!

Games patched with BootMe.exe are directly loaded prior to SysMenu without touching anything (No use of rescue menu).

That is soooo cool !!!

The only thing is that the game restart by itself when exiting to Wii menu because of the autoboot patch. I have to eject the disc to access it again.

Great Job and thanx to you all !!!

Now I'll looking and search for a solution for out of region games that not load on the disc channel because 50% of my backups are PAL versions of my NTSC original. That's the only way to play a game in french on a NTSC Wii. Many NTSC games are multilingual but not all of them.

Do you change the position of the gc controller after you autoboot? If you do, that is what is causing the restarting.

Well Said Ironmask. Lets hope we don't see to many more of these tho.

I have had no further progress in trying to get out of region games working through preloader or the like so I guess were gonna have to see what other ideas fall out of the sky

Any Ideas?

not a progress report just a status update..

spent the majority of this morning going through my 60-something backups and pretty much all of them work..the ones that dont work i can probably narrow down to been a decrypted copy and i will re-burn from original .iso's just to double check.

Count me in as 1 of the perma-mods.

Thanks to Maximillion and IronMask for the necessary links

I've got everything working 100% (and more.. got games working that didn't work before!)

Thanks to all of you and keep up the good work!!

hmm, is that from a backup via softmod? then you tested the original?

I don't use a gamecube controller at all ! I use BootMe to patch the iso to make it autoboot. It load before the System Menu without toutching anything.

Ok folks this is just speculation but it seems that this idea may bring us closer to being able to play GC Backups. Earlier it was noted that the reason backups were failing on the first attempt was that they needed to be patched to run on the CIOS...... Yet they would still display the banner and play the music........ Gamecube backups will currently display the banner and such when menu rebooter is used...... So would patching the MIOS with the same info as one patches the CIOS with enable this to work? I mean after all don't GC Games boot through MIOS? It may work with the same patch but it may require a custom patch.............. any thoughts on this?

and if MIOS where do they load through?
