Thanks Jizmo.

I just checked and i have an old copy of sys menu 3.2e from Wiiblaster from ages ago.

I've never reinstalled a system menu before - in the archive, i have 2 wads, sys menu and ios30, is there any order they need to be insalled in?

If it's the correct system menu for your Wii then just install the system menu.wad Make sure that it's not modified to run from a different IOS though.

mine is .... SystemMenu-v289.wad 21,983,552 Bytes 3.2U

I think i ran WUFE or something like that to extract it from the system. Somebody else can tell you which tool does that exactly or check out WUFE yourself and see if that's the utility that does it. Can't remember if I extracted from my NAND or from a DVD though.

I think the easiest is to get it from the Semi-Brick fix discs. If any noobs wonder how to do this, read the thread!

never close this thread. Good thing about it, is the title isn't too inviting.
This thing can develop more. IT may soon grow so much, that it will devour our wii's while we sleep.

All sweet and working again - i forgot that you can't install preloader then starfall, you need to install starfall then preloader!

I am going to test preloader on this configuration as soon as my missus finishes her movie - will post results.

Thread might take off pretty soon. News has been posted to a couple other Forums now.

BTW... I just got out an old GC Controller to tear it apart and build my JiizBlaster Game AutoLoader Dongle.... errrr...... savemii with a switch.

Get out your tissues!

Backed up my NAND, have starfall installed on 3.2E, now if someone just pm's me the modified sysmenu 3.2E wad then I'm in business

Now that we got backups running "natively", what are you goin to work on? We got to wait for BootMii or an alternative for the BootLoader, so you can't do that... Can't you allow the Disc Channel to be moved just as raven's menuloader but without having to boot his app? You can get the source...

Get it from a Semi Brick fix disc and use the app on the first page to patch the SysMenu. Why do you need a modified SysMenu? THis doesn't need one...

I just noticed you have lots of binary hidden in your sig Forbore

Why put it in white?

Also Ironmask is here now - he may be quicker than me to try preloader on this configuration - he's a daring man...

How come? I thought the whole point of this was installing a sysmenu which uses CIOS249?

* Starts reading again *

* edit*, I have the CIOSCORP pack, but didn't want to install IOS30 as I don't think it's the correct region (this is the only ISO which isn't region free?)

I only want a non-chip option of booting a wad manager disk

Cheers

"How come? I thought the whole point of this was installing a sysmenu which uses CIOS249? * Starts reading again * "

Well in the beginning. But all that accomplished was getting 1:1 Backups to be recognized Natively.
When you tried to boot the game is would use the game's IOS and error out because it was using native IOS. Games patched to 249 would run though. Backup were up till now made to work with IOS249 because the launcher forced IOS249. We at this time can't force loading from a particular IOS from Disc Channel. We can get the Disc to be detected and read it's banner/icon/sound through the system menu's IOS but not force it's loader IOS.

Hence the idea to just patch the other IOS that the games use with cIOS. Instead of changing IOS on the game to use a custom IOS, just change all the IOS to cIOS.

BAM @!@!@

Then the idea to just change IOS30 to cIOS30 and set the System Menu back to it's default IOS30

BAM !@! BAM @!@

And here we are........

Ah ha!

Thanks for the explanation, I'm sure it'll help more than me!

*edit* I was just thinking that I don't care (yet) for playing backups this way all I want is to have a sysmenu which uses CIOS249, I could then patch an autoboot disk to use this CIOS and thus no longer require the Zelda TP.

BAM !@! BAM @!@

Ahhh ha ha ha, you all lack of cIOS16 wich is better than having to redump your autobootable disc, patch to IOS249 and the reburn and have 2 copies of the discs

, I'll do it and send it to WiiBlaster so he can upload it with the others...!!!

I know im gonna regret asking this but what the hell....

So does that mean that i don't have to install the cios 30?

You guys got jokes for Iron Mask, huh?!

Unless I am missing something... the preloader is still only in PAL... I may try it after Crediar releases my region ,though... if so what are we thinking of autobooting with it?? would it now autoload a menupatcher or something that could help with the nonregion games being launchable through disc channel?? I forgot what it was that Linkinworm said for the reason it couldn't autoload those particular ones... and I want to say it was because of the fact that the system menu wasnt able to use the cios249 at boot.... so now it can since mine is patched right? so those that relied on cios 249 when the preloader first came out can now work?! that would be awesome... that would possibly "fix" the region games from currently not working in the disc channel... I am only assumin this...

I think I am keeping the menu at 249 for now until preloader atleast..

I may be way off on what I am thinking...

Hoepfully we will find out soon.... My girl won't shift her ass from the soft and the t.v.

@Ironmask - I forgot your in USA and yea it is pal only.

I was thinking the same kinda thing with regards to the out of region problem and potentially autobooting through preloader.

Hopefully I will have results soon.

So does that mean that i don't have to install the cios 30?

if you don't install the cIOS30 then backups will not show up in Disc Channel if System Menu is assigned to IOS30. the cIOS30 had the rev7 dip module enabling reading/loading of backups. If the system menu is left assigned to IOS249 and the IOS30 is left unpatched, then backup will show up in disc channel because it's using IOS249, but when a game that uses IOS30 would try to load it would fail because the official IOS30 can't read backups. The IOS assigned to system menu acts in this way as far as I can tell.

***** The IOS assigned to System Menu is used to Load Icon/Banner/Sound info for the Disc Channel

Once you press start to load the disc, the IOS that the game uses is read off the DVD and control is passed to that IOS.
If that IOS has the Dip7 module (meaning it's a cIOS), it'll continue to boot, but if it's official IOS it will fail. Why? Because Official IOS can't read backups of course.

The whold point of the System Menu being assigned to IOS249 is kind of moot now. Originally is was a way to modigy System Menu and not mess with IOS30. But once it was found out that cIOS30 was working fine, there was no need for System Menu to be on IOS249. But while System Menu was assigned to IOS249 it provided the opportunity to mess with IOS30.
