ok guys get this: i WOULD use NUSAD if:
1 it will download and package as a wad
2 it runs on linux
can NUSAD satify those 2 requirements?

i have wine.

For anyone wanting NUSAD, go to filetrip and get it without having to go through the agony of the linkbucks crap when getting it from the thread here.
Seriously XFlak... get rid of that garbage!

Edit: Also cannot get the Nintendo Channel or Everybody Votes Channel through NUSD or NUSAD.

Nintendo Channel: http://www.mediafire.com/?aazo116ibk5ln1i

Everybody Votes Channel: http://www.mediafire.com/?s7jbgaztftvgt81

These are for the standard, non-hidden channels.

iancer: NUSD should work fine via Wine

D34DL1N3R: I am taking from your first post that you don't want to use System Menu, so why does it matter if those channels are hidden or not? You don't need to download them and edit them unless you want them hidden. Anyway, you could make a NAND dump with BootMii and extract the channels from it with ShowMiiWads if you want to edit them.

If possible, I'd still like confirmation as to whether or not the hidden method works, if anyone can try that it'd be great.

it doesn't work on wine, sorry

but 2 potential solutions for u without needing windows
1) I believe it should work on your non-windows machine using vmware to boot windows XP or Windows 7 (or w/e windows really)
2) If you google Hiren's boot cd, and autoboot it, I believe there is a way for it to boot windows xp off the disc itself

but seriously, u have to know @ least one person with windows, borrow their pc for a little bit! Hell u can go to the library!

@SifJar, how do I use showmiiwads to make a hidden channel? I've used hide and seek in the past, but that never worked properly

I just meant you could dump a WAD from a NAND dump with ShowMiiWads, but yeah, you could actually do the whole process with it I think...Just change the title ID to 00010008XXXXXXXX and extract as a WAD. If this works, you should also be able to replace the banner with a very small file to reduce space used on NAND I think. It'd be great if you or someone else could try this, and try the hidden Mii Channel loader I posted, I don't have brick protection on my Wii ATM.

I never said they needed to be hidden, that was someone else who asked about hiding them. I just want them to be available in the HBC.

And thank you for those two.

I was just pointing out you don't need to get WADs of the channels unless you want to hide them.

Anyway, you're welcome. BTW, they try to load PAL, then USA, then JAP versions of the channels. If you want anymore, gimme a shout.

Hey SifJar, sorry for taking so long to get back to you. I've been busy working on some other stuff. I tried your method of making a hidden channel using showmiiwads, and it doesn't work, u can only change the title ID to another 4-digit ID. I also tried unpacking the wad and renaming all references to 0x1 to 00010008, then repacking the wad using showmiiwads, but the resulting wad was not hidden.

I think that maybe using WiiCrazy's "hide and seek" to build the hidden channels might work. But every other time I've tried using that to build a channel, it ends up being 'visible'. IIRC, I only ever tried using that for the HAXX to JODI forwarder, so it may have been a special case. I haven't tried official channels yet (like the Mii Channel), when I find a moment I'll try to test it out... but if some else reading this has more time, maybe they can try using hide and seek to convert the Mii Channel into a hidden Mii Channel, and see if it actually installs as hidden (and then of course check your HBC forwarder).

AFAIK, Hide and Seek only accepts DOLs, not WADs, so you couldn't do it...

Can't we just extract the dol from the wad (using customize mii or showmiiwads) and use that to make the invisible channel?

I don't think so, there seem to be more than three contents (banner, DOL, NAND Loader are the "regular" three in custom channels), so you'd have to add the others somehow too...I'm pretty sure all Hide and Seek does is make the title ID 00010008XXXXXXXX and put a 64-byte file in place of the banner and pack it. So if there's a tool that can change the lower title ID, it should do the trick I think. I may look into wii.py, see if I can make something with it...

EDIT: Looks like it should be possible using wii.py, but I don't know Python...I did learn a little a while ago, but not enough...

I couldn't find any documentation on libwiisharp.dll, although if I could, that may well be easier, as AHK (the one language I know a bit of) has DLL call functionality built it, so should be able to "easily" use functions from the DLL if I could find out what they're called, what parameters they need etc.

Isn't there some way for you to view what functions & parameter are in a dll? I don't know how to check it personally, but I think IDE's like Visual Studio should have a way of doing it... not sure about that...

There are also a bunch of source code examples using libwiisharp HERE that you may find helpful.

I have tried one tool which claimed to do that, but it didn't seem to show ANY functions in the DLL...

Also, I had a look at those sources, and they didn't seem to mention the actual DLL function names very clearly. I guess I fail at understanding C#.

If its not to much of a liberty can you make 2 of these for me
rolleyes.gif
it's just what I’ve been looking for.

One targeting the WiiMC channel 0001000157494D43
And the other for WiiFlow channel 000100015746424A

I had a look with a hex editor but could not find what needed changing in your MiiChannel example.

Thanx SifJar for any assistance and Slimmmmmm for the steer.....m

I'm pretty busy right now, but if you download the source I posted a few pages back, you'll find something like this in the main.c file:

CODE//---------------------------------------------------------------------------------
int main(int argc, char **argv) {
//---------------------------------------------------------------------------------

ÂÂÂÂWII_Initialize();
ÂÂÂÂWII_LaunchTitle(0x0001000248414341ULL); //Change this line to title ID
ÂÂÂÂreturn 0;
}

Just stick the title ID in where it says 0001000248414341 - make sure you put the 0x at the start and the ULL at the end, then simply compile and it should work

EDIT: If you haven't managed to do it by this time tomorrow, I should have time then to do it for you

minjeeta, there you go. If you like making small edits of things and might change your mind you should get devkit installed. I've inluded the sources from SifJar with the 8 character changes to match your 2 chans id and compiled them so you can use they 2 dols but also look and see how to make other ones when you want a change.

Sorry SifJar I was on a no devkit pc
