wait what?? So If i'm plugged in to a wall charger (or docked) and going full overclock (1785, 921, 1600 ram) a lot, is that really bad? My switch has yet to shut down for it, but am I doing damage to it?

also, the rule of thumb is to overclock until you get the wanted effects

the soc is made for much higher clockspeeds than that, but the board isn't. its made for 18 watts at the VERY most. You wont outright kill it (usually) but your making the life of the thing much smaller

You can check your SoC temp with https://github.com/KazushiMe/InfoNX/releases/tag/v1.0.1
Switch will auto shutdown if it reaches temperatures that would damage internals, the max temp I’ve reached with max OC running around 2 hours is around 70°C in docked.
    My Switch is Erista.

oh damn it. :\ Welp. Guess I'll have to live with that. Some games are just practically unplayable otherwise

Any way to know how much power is being drawn based on the overclock combos?

When you say it’s made for 18 watts that means the components would damage because OC is drawing more power than the system is capable of provide? What about docked mode? Doesn’t it provides about 39 watts?

Its not so much "unable to provide" as "unable to handle." Battery + USB port/official charger can provide the power, but some components are going to wear out fast having that much power run through them. I don't think docked mode ever goes up to 39, that should fry some components otherwise.

It's exactly what I wanted you to understanding. You're being arrogant and all, but rather than saying "do it yourself I don't care" harshly, can't you just explain what I'm supposed to do ? Compile ? Yeah I understand, you repeated it 3 times, but how ? What to modify ?
That's why I don't even see the point in the first place to delete your download post. It's just more of an hassle than it was before. And if you really feel guilty from providing modified software, you should also know that it won't change anything that you deleted it or not. The damage is done. That should not be your problem how people use your tool because the hacking of the Switch in the first place is not without its risks.

The power brick is rated for something around 40watts, and while yes at points it hasn't been able to provide that, its not really that that kills it. docked/handheld really doesn't make a difference

    that should be good
even at max cpu that fine

is there a current possibility to go above 1.7GHZ with CPU?

there is ram oc, (max is 2.1, but your chips may or may not be capable of that with overvolting)

GPU-CPU-RAM OC are working with default voltage tables, there's no risk of overvolt, because there's a limit in place.

Was excited to hear we could safely push it higher, I thought finally I could play some games with decent resolution at a stable 30, since that's all I want and some games struggle as we all know. I got all hyped and kept on reading only to find that my poor granny erista's battery doesn't like that one bit, but glad to hear other people on the newer models can have fun with it.

The most I usually do is sdev oc on the cpu and sometimes 921 on gpu, or 460 handheld. I don't mess with charge/official charge caps in handheld, it can already get above 50c in some games with just that little bump. Other games I underclock where I can.

Also as far as I know the main bottleneck is the gpu clock whenever I start dipping frames, is 921 the absolute safe max that erista can handle. Like if you only wanted to oc the gpu and leave the rest at stock? If I'm reading this right then is the answer yes, max 921? (talking docked/official charger)

Because from what I've read it's the motherboard that can't handle it, not the battery or soc, but I can't tell if that's true for erista or that people are talking about mariko? (probably been asked before, I'm sorry but I can't always tell which model ppl are talking about, so understand if ppl get mad)

Still, I can't believe some of the clocks people are getting on the newer soc, it's crazy if they can be maintained without significantly shortening the lifespan. Still glad to have a switch I don't need a modchip for though, my tiny soldering leaves far too much to be desired haha.

erista is the main one, mariko can do some insane things. The bottleneck is ram, and max gpu iicr is 1075mhz, but there's very little preformace benefits from that.
(actually you can go higher, but it damages your soc because of power draw, hell 1075 is already very risky)
the battery really isn't a concern unless you go for something dumb on battery, or just really hate the cold and end up overheating the battery

Oh right, so I guess if it's the ram then that explains why some games still lagged quite a bit even with the gpu oc, I just thought the gpu wasn't high enough. I just always saw 99% usage on gpu so assumed that was the bottleneck.

So I'm guessing the same issues with erista hold true for ram oc. I think you said it could do 2.1 max on ram right, for cooling at least, but the board can't handle anymore than 1.6 for erista (before burning stuff out)?

Kinda makes me wonder if this rumored but sorta confirmed switch pro will use the same or similar soc to mariko but have components on the motherboard to handle the highest clock speeds and wattage. Since I doubt any pro model is gonna be a power house compared to next gen, hopefully it'll be on par with ps4/xbone whenever it hits (it is ninty after all).
