Hi there!
So as you might know I work for local thrift shop as a person who repairs minor issues with consoles and phones. They just gave a me a Switch that won't charge or turn on. Here is what I know:

-The switch got an error that prompted the user to hold the power button for 12 seconds to power off the console.

-After that the console would not power on.

-It is not a patched console, so it could have been used to run CFW, but since it didn't come with an SD card I can't tell.

I tried the following things:
-The charging port seen to be firm and shows no damage.

-Disconnected, charged and updated the Joy Cons on my console.

-Tried to turn it on with Power and both volume buttons pressed

-Tried charging it with both my official Switch chargers, dock and got nothing.

-Tried connecting it to a PC to see if it had auto-rcm on it but was not recognised.

I don't use a pirated console so I don't have a jig or much knowledge about the scene. I used to have a jig I could look for or 3d print a new one.
I read other threads and no one mentions the error with the promt to turn off the console pressing the power button. if there is a post that I overlooked I will thank you for pointing me to it.

Thank you for your time and have a nice day!

Can you put a depleted battery in it?
Check back after one hour if the voltage increased.
If yes, your BQ charging chip is fine.

I can't since I only own a switch taht is not just mine but shared. I will open the console up and share my findings, here. It may be liquid damage since the owner refused to share more details.

I'm actually having the same problem . is there any other way I can check ? and lets say the BQ charging chip is fine . would swiching the battery work?

If the BQ Chip is fine you should be able to charge your switch just fine

I opened it up and the console seems fine.
The problem is that the client is trying to get the warranty claim so he will not tell me that he uses CFW or anything. He won't not tell me the error or anything. I will just say to the shop owner that it cannot be proven that client is at fault.
