stay OFW on 5.1 then use EMUNAND for 6.2.0 or 7.01
You can't have 7.0.0+ on EmuNAND. Keeping OFW lower won't give him anything. If he is going to use EmuNAND, he should update OFW to latest FW and get online and keep EmuNAND lower to keep CFW support.

Tell me what is not working please.

What does it take? Download 2 files and put them on SD. THen boot to CFW and choidujourNX and update. If that's a lot of work for you, I don't know how are you typing these essays.

At the end, he is going to update anyways. So why wait? He is not going to lose anything.

Maybe because I am part of the community and actually am interested in what is happening?
Or maybe not. Those 2 years gave me zero experience. I guess that I am just nobody who did nothing.

Yea. I surely updated because I don't want CFW. As you can see, I am clearly against CFW: You clearly have no idea what are you talking about. This conversation is pointless.

P.S.: Show me one thing which can't work on 7.0.1 but is on 5.1.0.

It's all good man. gamesquest1 is right. I'm not gonna get all worked up anymore about it. You do what you want with your device and I'll do what I want with mine. Regardless, I'm still going to encourage people to take the SAFER ROUTE with their device by STAYING PUT, when there is no major incentive to move forward.

calm it down guys, try to remain civil, you have differing opinions, personally i would say move with the tide, new apps etc will no doubt be developed with the latest FW in mind, if you try to be stubborn and not move eventually you will be making a thread saying "urrrgh this is X not working for me" because you refused to move with the tide, that said if there is no specific home-brew app or game that you really need that doesn't work on 6.x+ then stay there until your fav program is updated or an alternative is released

but to play devils advocate, if you can do everything you want on the FW your currently on and your happy with it, then don't feel obligated to update until something breaks

Agreed. However, history has shown that there is typically more harm than good that comes from UPGRADING than there is with just STAYING PUT!

stay OFW on 5.1 then use EMUNAND for 6.2.0 or 7.01
because UPDATING firmware is more easier rather than DOWNGRADING firmware

Enough said! :)

Well, after reading everything. I had some other doubts. Like I said, I'm a new with this. Yes, I understand some concepts (I was one or two years related to the 3DS scene, that's why I identify emuNAND and others), but I still do not understand how it works on the nintendo switch.

You can use emuNAND offline only (with SX OS), and use a clean sysNAND for online and buy the games you want to play online legit. But if you don't have a NAND backup from before running CFW then there is no real way to go back to a clean sysNAND, you can use ChoiDujour (not NX) to generate a new NAND, but it will be suspicious as it will have the logs and such cleared which has been proven to be enough to get banned.

For this, I do not have SX OX, so I think that the part of playing online with a sysnand in 7.0 and the emunand in 5.1 could not be done, could it?

And, what difference between the ChoiDujour and the ChoiDujourNX? I thought they were the same.

The same as above. If you recommend that option, I imagine it is the same with Atmosphere. As far as I understand if I turn on the switch without jig mod, it enters the SysNAND (that's why it does not load homebrew and the other things), but if I turn it on with the jigmod, it enters emuNAND, am I wrong? : /

There is no reason to stay on 5.1.0. Nothing is planed for that fw and multiple games already require 6.x.x and some updates even 7.0.x (but not the master keys). So you should probably just update to 6.2.0 (or 7.0.1) via choidujournx.
Hello? 7.0.x was released about a month ago...

I understand the points of staying in 5.1 or update to 6.2 / 7.0, and I understand that everyone has their needs to do so. Here my question is: If at some point a game gets an update (let's say Pokemon LGP), I have clear that tinfoil will not allow me to install it (I think), then, will an error jump, or what will happen? Of course, that's when I know I have to update.

Thank you, guys!

If you want to use online then SX is worth getting. It's only $25-30 for a license, half the cost (or less) than a game.

Hmm...
I haven't use my Switch for a few months, and when I put on CFW, I always used airplane mode (to avoid ban). I don't know if there is any solution to avoid bans when playing online now. There is?
airplane mode gets deactivated on dock and sleep mode

Online for me is just an “Okay”. I asked because I thought that the possibility existed withour SX and without risk of ban.
If you have a clean NAND backup you can restore it whenever you want to go online as I said. It's hardly ideal but it works if you only play online occasionally. Either way if you have a clean NAND backup then you are always able to make an emuNAND later when Atmosphere supports it, and restore your clean NAND to sysNAND and play online. It might take a few months or a year but it is being worked on.

What is a “clean backup”?

I havea backup and I’m going to do another one (if I update to 6.2).

It will ask you to update and won't let you run the game unless you update it. If you update it officially, it will update your FW as well and probably even flag you. If you update it by installing the update NSP it should work (as updates don't require master keys). But any game that requires higher keys won't be installable.
And I mean it in the best interest of everyone. There is no reason to stay low if you can update as everything important works.

Oh, ok. I have that backup.
So, Could I use ChoidujourNX or Choidujour? (Is there a difference?)

ChoidujourNX is homebrew which runs on the switch. Choidujour is external PC program which can create NAND image.
So you want to use choidujournNX.

Hello, I have a Nintendo Switch that has (as far as I remember) Hekate CFW and version 5.1.

My questions are:
  • What's the best version to update (to play all the new games) and how?

  • What's the best CFW actually? (just for play games and backup saves. And secure)

I'm new with this...

Thank you so much!

6.2 is the most recommended firmware to be on at this point in time.

It is recommended to update using the homebrew application choidujourNX

For straight-up piracy SXOS which is paid to get all the features or ReiNX, which is free. You can also use kosmos/atmosphere but you are required to get the sigpatches (used to play backups) separately

Great, thank you!
Just a question... I don’t know how works or install sigpatches. Can you explain that? Please
