Switch v1 without joycon at all

If I buy a switch v1 tablet only, can I bypass the first setup screen if I have no joycon at all?

No, you need joycons to pass that first screen.
Afaik, even cheap Chinese knockoffs will do.
A pro controller doesn't work.
Or borrow them from someone, that will of course also work.

you might just ask to borrow someone's for the setup, past that you can have Mission Control (I've got my spare DS4 paired, it's so much better)

Does this work? AFAIK the NitroDeck shows up as a wired Pro Controller (/ wireless Pro if you have the Plus model and connect the controller to power).

Ah sugar sticks.... I think you are correct. I may have used my sons joycons while I waiting on it arriving......

I just phoned and asked him and yeah we did did use his!
