Honestly I don't think it's such a bad thing. It avoids a situation like the 3DS where many late-gen games were obviously designed for the New 3DS and really struggled to run on the original models, while any actual New 3DS exclusives were few and far between. The same thing happened to a lesser extent with the PS4 Pro and Xbox One X.

I figured this might've been the case ever since that Bloomberg report last year, but it's nice to have something closer to official confirmation.

My theory about that is the following:

Revenue wise, on the worst time of the year for Digital Foundry (because people are entrained and will not watch 30 minutes videos about anti aliasing), they looked back on their view/engagement history and saw some spikes in the past. They analyzed those spikes and saw that it was the switch pro "news", so then they decided to make another video about it.

In the end I believe that the amount of advertisement money generated by the switch pro (false) rumor content is enough to buy Nintendo Corporation already, that's why this story is not going away.

There are no ā€œps4 pro and Xbox one xā€ exclusives

The only thing locked out was the 4K hdr stuff. But what else can you expect from a old console?
