Do you like the Switch's hybrid design?

In my opinion, while the option to play in handheld mode is nice, it's not worth the massive drop in performance. There is also the issue that games feel harder to control in handheld mode making more challenging games feel unfair.

The Switch does get a performance boost in docked mode but realistically if the Switch was a dedicated home console rather than a hybrid system it would be far more powerful.

I am someone who upgraded from the original to an OLED Switch because the smaller transistors allow you to overclock to higher frequencies.

There have been times in the past where playing in handheld mode was nice like when I was living without a TV or finished work late at night and played an easy game laying on the couch in handheld mode to destress.

I rarely play the Switch or even the 3DS outside of home because they occupy space in my bag. While smartphones have their drawbacks, they're good enough overall as a portable gaming system. In addition to this, you should be using your free moments outside of home more productively such as by reading a page out of a book or reflecting on how to deal with a problem you're facing.

I don't represent the average consumer. If you have children you may want them to play in handheld mode when there's something you want to watch on the TV. If you have friends then depending on where you all meet up you may play Mario Kart or Mario Party together in handheld mode. Maybe you simply would rather being able to bring your Switch with you on the bus to work or for long distance trains or flights. Not everyone cares about technical performance as much as I do.

When the switch first launched, i was amazed by the home console/portable console dual thingy. Spent many hours playing Mario Kart and Nintendo Switch Sports with friends and family. IRL responsibilities and lack of money to buy new games made my switch a paperweight for some time. Then a good friend of mine offered me to modchip my switch free of charge to practice his soldering skills. So the device came alive once more...

To be fair, i rarely use the switch to play games nowadays. Thanks to the home/portable console feature and the modchip, i set up a seperate sd card with android 11 on it. I use it to turn my old tv into a smart device and watch series and iptv and stuff. the device gets used a lot at home thanks to this. Really useful. I even used my switch as a pc with linux once to save data from the failing hard drive from my sisters laptop.

I like having the option, even when playing at home:
Playing on a tv or taking the switch to bed are both valid.
Other consoles mostly offer only the one thing or the other.

I still miss the DS and 3DS era of Nintendo though.
