Hey, I've got a modded Nintendo Switch and I'd like to sell it. My ebay listing got removed so I'd like to just unmod it and sell it like a regular Switch. Is it possible to do remove all the software modifications? I've got atmosphere and this Switch is a v1 unpatched model.
so basically you're asking for help in hiding that your console may easily get banned at any point from unsuspecting buyers. nice

Does anybody know the value of this top white cap near the backlight circuit?

Hello friends, could someone explain to me for-dummies...

My switch has autoRCM, it was installed already when I got it and in all these years I've only kept it in sleep mode in its dock when not in use. I only ever shut it down if I need to inject a payload again for any reason. As I understand this shutdown (i.e. hold power button -> power options -> turn off) is only putting the console in RCM mode and not shutting it down "for real". I've always had the impression that if the console were to shut down for real, or ran out of battery, I would have to manually re-enable AutoRCM by whichever method was used initially (inserting a jig into the side-rails?) but I might be completely wrong.

What WILL happen if my switch runs out of battery? And what would you recommend if I ever wanted to store it away for a prolonged period of time? Is there a way to safely turn it off for real, then next month or so recharge it -> RCM -> Payload?
I'm on the 19.0.0, Atmosphere 1.8.0, Hekate 6.2.2 if that matters.

Thanks for reading.

Reboot to Hekate and switch off from there, thats the "real" shutdown.
When it runs outof battery, the switch will go on from connecting a charger or puting it into the dock but will boot to autorcm obviously. In this state charging takes extremely long, so i highly advice to take care that this does not happen.
When you shut it down with hekate its fully off, but when you start switch, it will go into rcm and needs payload to boot further
Hope this helps :)

I never used autoRCM personally, but as @SonGoku78 mentioned above, I highly recommend to shut down from Hekate. Then, you'll be absolutely sure it's off, and you can store it in a drawer for several weeks without any problems. When you want to use it again, just press the power button, and you'll be back to RCM, ready to push a payload.

Hello,

I recently bought a secondhand V1 Switch with an SX OS dongle. I know that SX OS is outdated, so I'm now using Hekate. Is there a way to make the SX OS dongle usable to boot into Hekate?

power off is power off. it doesnt go back into rcm mode unless you press the power button or plug in a power source. not anymore

it used to be that power off from the os would do a reboot and get stuck in rcm, but that's been fixed a long time ago

what happens if it runs out of battery is that it'll be powered off, and plugging in the charger brings it into rcm mode automatically, but charging is very slow when the console is in rcm. so what you do is plug in the charger, hold the power button for 30-60 seconds to guarantee it's properly powered off, and then you can let it charge back up. once it's charged back up (15 minutes is plenty) you can connect it to your computer to inject the payload, and stick it in your dock again (or connect it back to a regular charger)

I have some modified files made by editing stuff from a games romfs folder that I would like to use to modify the game. How do I modify the romfs folder on the SD card to achieve this? Or can I use the mod by placing the new romfs folder under atmosphere/contents/[TID]?

Is there a recent guide for unpatched Switch using Mac / OSX?

Should I update my switch before setting up a CFW?

Thanks!

Hacking a Switch hasn't changed since the scene began so you can follow any guide that is still up as some have been taken down. This guide is still active so I'd recommend following it. As for updating your Switch, I'd actually recommend not updating it before hacking as there are alternative ways of updating your console once its hacked.

Switch OLED Reliability

"I'm considering buying a Switch OLED and having a modchip installed. I'm looking for a highly skilled and trustworthy technician, both because the chip isn't easy to install and because I often see posts about long-term issues. Since I'm not able to fix potential hardware failures myself, how frequently do these problems occur? Are failures rare, or is this something to seriously consider? If necessary, I'd settle for a V1 instead. What are your thoughts on this?"

Hello i recently purchased a modded Oled switch for my daughter the person i got it from recieved it as a gift so im not honesly sure if its got a modchip (i think it does because i can see lights flashing through the vents when turning switch on)

my daughter is special needs and doesnt understand stuff which is why i got the modded switch so she doesnt have to use a physical cartridge. shes let the switch battery die a couple times and it would boot back into OFW i dont know what she did but twice none i have gotta it too boot back into CFW

now im stuck in OFW after this last time it died can anyone help me figure iout how to boot back into CFW for her i looked online and i tried holding the volume button while turning on but nothing i have tried works now. i know its possible as i ahve already seen her do it accidentaly twice just dont know how to fix it thank you for any help

Sorry if this was already answered, i did look through a ton of posts and didn't find an issue similar enough. I modded my oled switch a year ago (with a hwfly modchip) and it was working fine until a few days ago. Now it refuses to boot (blackscreen), the chip gets stuck on blinking red lights, so i assumed it was the DAT0 point.

So i opened it up, disconnected the ribbon cables from the chip, desoldered one wired point, and checked if the console booted to OFW. Again, black screen and a faint buzzing sound (which confirms me that it does get powered). Also checked that it was detected by my pc as an RCM device by Tregrarcmgui (with the modchip removed, no combination of buttons needed), and that it does charge (checked with a charger that displays the draw)

So, i'm wondering:

1. I did update the switch using Daybreak (on CFW emummc) at some point. Maybe that is preventing it to boot to OFW properly? (would be weird since it did boot to OFW from hekate when the chip was working)

2. Am i wrong in thinking that the switch should boot to OFW with the ribbon cables still attached? Or do those interfere somehow?

3. Are there reports of chips just killing consoles? I'm wondering since it was so sudden, barely move the switch around, hadn't drop it, etc.

Any help would be appreciated, thanks in advance!

all of a sudeen, its saying my sd card is full (connected via dbi to computer / even directly)
i can't transfer the game which is donkey kong country (8.30 GB (8,923,356,032 bytes)

my sd card should be 400gb its fat 32 formatted - a sandisk ive never had an issue before and it says i have 148769mb free and 345656mb total

it should trandfer but i get the error no space when sd card is directly attached to the computer
dbi doesn't do anything either

there seems to be a bug / file somehwere on the sd card thats probably causing an issue but i cant see anything (hidden folder etc)

can anyone advise?

That's probably why. Why are you transferring files to the SD card? Why don't you use dbibackend on your PC to install the game instead?
i am trying that and nothing happens, it doesnt transfer across. its strange. so i tried the direct method and it says no space

also ive going to update now firmware 19.00 to see if that helps or fixes anything

The file you're trying to copy to your SD card exceeds the maximum of 4GB that can be transferred to the FAT32 formatted drive.
I've been using dbibackend from the very beginning and I never run into an error. Check this video for more info on how to use it.

Skip the 19.0.0 and go straight to 19.0.1 as the 19.0.1 fixed some of the issues 19.0.0 introduced.

I'm setting up my own shop using ownfoil v2 and want to use a client certificate with tinfoil?

The Tinfoil custom index documentation describes how to specify a client certificate in a custom .tfl file but there is a bit of a chicken and egg problem if I want to secure access to the index itself. Is there a way of specifying a client certificate to use in the locations.conf or elsewhere so that all requests to a shop will use the certifciate?

Using 19.0.1SYS/1.8.0AMS|E

I have the most recent sigpatches but the latest update for Super Smash Bros. doesn't seem to work. I get "the software was closed because an error occurred". The integrity check passes for the update, so I'm not sure what could be wrong.

Ideas?
